Stewards asked jockey M. Cahill to comment on the performance of the horse. He indicated he had been instructed to ride the filly in a more forward position and despite riding very vigorously during the first 150m, the horse could not muster sufficient speed to cross runners to the inside, and when in a position 4 wide passing the 1300m he elected to steady in an attempt to secure a position a position closer to the fence.
