Stewards questioned J. Guthman-Chester regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages when he restrained to allow ASALWAS to shift across his line at a point near the 1400m, which resulted in his mount losing ground when the pace of the race being set in the early stages was quite slow. Apprentice Guthman-Chester after hearing the stewards concerns and viewing the patrol footage agreed that this had been a poor decision on his part given the slow tempo that was being set, and agreed he had made an error or judgement at this point of the race, particularly given that his horse is one-paced
