Jockey R. Stewart reported after beginning only fairly he took up a position at the tail of the field. He indicated that he would have preferred to be a length or 2 closer to the lead, adding that he was obliged to attempt to improve earlier than he would have liked as the horses he was trailing were not able to take him into the race in what he considered was a slowly run event. He added when under pressure from the 800m the horse did race greenly.
