Stewards questioned apprentice H. English regarding the tactics adopted which resulted in her being caught in a 3 wide position outside the lead throughout the event. She indicated she had been instructed to ride forward and near the 1200m was of the view that A SHIN ROCK would shift in behind the leader, IZZAH. A short distance later she became aware A SHIN ROCK was going to remain to the outside of IZZAH and this caused her to be caught 3 wide. She attempted approaching the first turn to then restrain the horse and settled behind A SHIN ROCK, however the horse overraced and she elected

Jockey R. Wiggins was asked to comment on the performance of the horse. He indicated the horse had been fractious in the barriers and was satisfied that the horse had not suffered any ill effects in this incident, however was disappointed with the overall performance, adding that the horse laid in under pressure from the top of the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
