As jockey R. Moloney was to be overweight, jockey M. Cahill was substituted as the rider of that horse. Jockey Moloney was fined $200. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, jockey M. Cahill indicated the horse travelled well in a favourable position behind the leader, however when he shifted out to improve passing the 500m the horse was immediately under pressure and was very disappointing in the run to the line.

Jumped away very awkwardly, making heavy contact with another runner. Raced wide throughout and hung out for a short distance passing the 800m and then weakened from the 600m. Trainer T. Haydon was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily in an official trial prior to its next race start.

Which finished a distant last was examined by the veterinary surgeon with no abnormalities reported. Heavily bumped by another runner and had to be checked at the start. Steadied when inconvenienced near the 1200m.
