Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. When questioned as to his tactics adopted, and also the horse’s overall performance, jockey Wiggins indicated that he had only been issued instructions to ensure the horse finds the line strongly as it had been weakening over the concluding stages in previous starts. He added he was also mindful that the horse had overraced badly at its most recent start and did therefore not want to overly pressure the horse in the early stages. Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner and became unbalanced. Improved onto heels approaching the 600m and commenced to hang out and did so until entering the home straight. Stewards questioned jockey M. McGillivray regarding his tactics in the home straight when he directed his mount to the inside of DER SIEGER when there appeared there was opportunity to improve to the outside of that horse.
