Bumped heavily on jumping away, was forced to steady and lost ground. When overracing passing the 700m improved into a tight position near the 600m and had to be steadied, and was again steadied from heels near the 550m. Laid in under pressure after passing the 400m.

Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance of the colt, which tailed the field throughout, apprentice J. Huxtable indicated that his mount raced greenly and was obliged to pressure EXALTED in the middle stages in an attempt to improve, and that the horse would take improvement from the race experience. Trainer C. Munce was advise that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s competiveness.
