Rider B Thompson reported it was his intention to race in a more forward position however after beginning awkwardly settled in a rearward position. He added the horse was making an abnormal respiratory noise over the concluding stages of the event. Trainer G Andrews stated he was disappointed with the overall performance of SPIRIT OF AQUADA and was of the opinion the horse was not suited racing back in the field and is better suited when racing on the outside of runners.
