Slow to begin and was checked to avoid heels shortly after the start. Bumped by another runner near the 900m. When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey Beau Appo advised that after obtaining a forward position in the event, the gelding only travelled reasonably throughout the event, and when placed under pressure proved disappointing. Trainer B. Currie also expressed disappointment in the performance and advised that he may now freshen the horse up and step it back in distance before its next start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
