Began very awkwardly, and lost valuable ground at the start. Bumped heavily by another runner near the 900m, and became unbalanced. Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 700m and, as a result, raced wide for the remainder. Jockey A. Fancourt reported that her mount had a tendency to lay out throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be making an abnormal respiratory noise, and to also have a laceration to its off fore heel.
