Slow to begin and lost ground and, as a result, settled further back in the field than anticipated. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Stewards questioned App. L. Kilner and Trainer Mr. B. Currie in relation to the seemingly poor performance. Refer full report. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be very dehydrated. A post-race swab sample was also taken from the gelding.
