As the gelding had not raced for some time, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had lost the near fore plate in running, and that it was exhibiting an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Trainer B. Currie was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to its next start.
