Raced three wide without cover in the early stages until pressing forward passing the 1400m to obtain the lead. Passing the 400m, whilst weakening, was bumped and tightened for room by DEMESNE, which shifted in when endeavouring to take a run to the inside of WHAKATANE. Apprentice H. English, the rider of DEMESNE, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
