Tightened for room at the start. Apprentice N. Keal could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding, which he advised had travelled well throughout but failed to respond when asked to quicken. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery, and that it had lost the off hind plate.

After being caught wide in the early stages, Apprentice Z. White permitted her mount to stride forward to obtain the leading position passing the 1000m. Apprentice Z. White could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance other than that the gelding had been inclined to overrace which may have been detrimental to its finishing sprint. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities.
