When asked to comment on tactics adopted apprentice O Kendal stated instructions were to race in a forward position and after the mare travelled keenly outside the leader, she attempted to rate ROSE BY DESIGN without overly restraining the horse. Stewards noted her explanation. Apprentice Kendall was reminded of her obligations in riding her mounts out to the end of the race.
