Steadied from heels of another runner which shifted in shortly after the start. Raced wide and without cover from the 800m. Commenced to weaken from the 300m. Rider reported the gelding felt uncomfortable in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for the gelding prior to the gelding racing again.
