Held up from the 400m until the 300m. When questioned re ride, in particular between the 600m and 300m, Rdr said instructs were to be in a forward position, however, gelding failed to muster early speed, so elected to settle at the rear-added near the 500m, elected to ride for luck and stay on the fence instead of being forced to a wide position round h/turn. After viewing the films, Rdr conceded should have placed gelding under more pressure from 600m to be in a more competitive spot & could have shifted to a one-off position near the 500m, which would have afforded clear run round h/turn.$10

Approaching the 1000m, improved onto heels & steadied. When asked about performance, Rdr stated with blinkers back on, gelding raced keenly and may be better suited to shorter distances. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs.$3.60
