When asked to comment on tactics adopted rounding the home turn and in the home straight, rider J Cornish explained POLE VAULTER was steadily making ground at that point of the race and near the 100 metres was disappointed for a run between SWAHILI MAN and ARRIVERDERCI ROMA and as a result was held up for clear running in the run to the finish. Apprentice Cornish added POLE VAULTER would appreciate a step up in distance going forward.

Rider reported the gelding felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer C Jokic was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. Shifted the off fore plate in running.
