Upon arrival at the barriers underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was passed fit to start. Stewards questioned Trainer K. Kemp regarding the performance of the filly. Mr Kemp could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than the filly was stepping up in grade from a maiden win last start in which it was able to lead, whereas today the filly was obliged to race in a rearward position.
