Stewards question Jockey A Sewell regarding tactics adopted. Jockey Sewell stated that after beginning awkwardly and slow to begin, he then elected to ride forward and with no speed shown by runners to his inside, the gelding was allowed to stride forward and assume the lead near the 1300m, and that the tempo set was not excessive due to the lack of early speed by the other runners

When asked to comment regarding the geldings perform jockey J Stanley stated that after travelling well, he felt that nearing the 300m it was flat and not responding to his riding and was disappointed with its performance. Trainer T Smith advised that following today’s performance it would now be sent for a spell and also noted that the gelding has performed better on firmer surfaces
