When asked to comment on the performance rider E Lang advised the horse travelled comfortably during the event however when placed under pressure in the home straight weakened over the concluding stages, adding that MERSEYSIDE may not have run out a strong 1600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from heat stress.
