Racing Queensland advises stakeholders of an amendment to the Abandoned Race Meeting Policy.
RQ consulted with the Greyhound Racing Advisory Panel and subsequently approved an increase to the compensation payment for trainers from $50 per greyhound to $80 per greyhound for race meetings abandoned as a result of unforeseen circumstances (i.e. weather) within the prescribed timeframes.
Trainers will also receive the $40 greyhound appearance fee at all abandoned meetings where the race kenneling process has been carried out. This takes the total amount of compensation to $120 per greyhound for race meetings abandoned under these circumstances.
The amended Policy will take effect from 1 July 2018.
