RACE TWO
LINCOLN ROAD (8) started from this gate last start and avoiding a pocket was off around them 3-wide to find the breeze. With a solid tempo over the 2138m trip he faded late behind ITS JUST KENNY. He again faces the tricky gate but with 5 wins in succession he can bounce back here. MAKOA (9) was after the hat-trick last start after successive Sat night victories over the mile. Taking on the middle distance last start he was away from the pegs early and worked home soundly behind OUTLAW FELLA. This looks a shade easier overall than his past few and he can issue a challenge. ONE WISE MAN (1) stayed out of the early speed battle over the 2138m last start and from the running line worked home in good order for 3rd behind AQUA MISS. He can look to dictate. OFFICIANADO (2) took the trail from gate 1 here 3 starts back and with the cosy trip was able to finish over the top for the win. 3m from MAKOA 2 starts back he is in the mix here. SELECTIONS: LINCOLN ROAD (8), MAKOA (9), ONE WISE MAN (1), OFFICIANADO (2) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE THREE
EXCEPTIONAL MACH (2) wasn’t suited last start when buried away in the run and never seeing space when 9m from COMPLY OR DIE. 2 starts back he had the speed to find the pegs from gate 4 and looked to go all the way when grabbed late. He can get to the pegs and look to dictate terms. STIRLING WILLIAM (5) did his share of work from gate 7 last start over the mile when sent to the breeze. With a solid tempo throughout he dug in for the fight when finishing 1.5m from the winner. Taking the prize here 3 starts back by a half-neck he will be fighting hard again here. ALWAYS MY MATE (9) was snagged back from gate 6 here 2 starts back and hit the line strongly. He was wide off the track last start when working home well and with the right run can swoop late. CASINO TOMMY (4) doesn’t have the numbers against name but his runs have been slightly better than the return and apart from last start have been against much stronger opponents. Don’t dismiss. SELECTIONS: EXCEPTIONAL MACH (2), STIRLING WILLIAM (5), ALWAYS MY MATE (9), CASINO TOMMY (4) SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS MY MATE (9) each-way
RACE FOUR HEAVENS HURRICANE (3) will strip fitter following his latest run when resuming from a break. Facing a string of tough gates last prep, he returned with gate 1 and leading them up as the fav he was grabbed late when 2nd to OASIS DREAM. With the good gate he can look to take them all the way. ARK PATROL (4) looked be to racing below his best but also wasn’t being helped by some bad gates. Making the most of a restricted front race at Redcliffe 2 starts back and a better alley he capitalised to take them all the way. Backing that up with a strong win at the triangle he is right in the fight. WEE JIMMY (1) has claimed the bronze at his past 3 in succession, the latest when chasing hard behind BLINGITTOTHEMAX. With a cosy run in transit he can look for another podium finish. GETINANHANGON (12) scored an all the way win over the sprint trip at Redcliffe 2 starts back and then last start was fighting hard in a strong last 800m when 2nd at Tamworth. He can close late.
SELECTIONS: HEAVENS HURRICANE (3), ARK PATROL (4), WEE JIMMY (1), GETINANHANGON (12) SUGGESTED BET: HEAVENS HURRICANE (3) to win
RACE FIVE
NEWPORT DREAMZ (11) will strip fitter following a successful return to the track last start after a break. Pressing on from gate 5 he forced his way to the front and once in control held on to score a 2m victory with a further 18m back to 3rd. The gate hurts but he is smart at his best and he can back it up here. TASSINI (1) lands her best gate for some time and can look to make the most of the opportunity. Last start from gate 5 she was snagged back early but was attacking the line strongly when within 2m of the winner. With the options from the gate she can be in the right position to challenge. CC JONES (2) finished best from a 2nd line gate here 4 starts back and then 2 starts back over the mile was in for the fight when breezing outside LIS LINCOLN. He is in the mix from this alley. MAJORDOIT (10) claimed a heat of the Tamworth Golden Guitar 2 starts back when taking the trail from gate 1 and then finishing over the top to score. Luckless in the final he can chime in here. SELECTIONS: NEWPORT DREAMZ (11), TASSINI (1), CC JONES (2), MAJORDOIT (10) SUGGESTED BET: NEWPORT DREAMZ (11) to win
RACE SIX GREG THE GREAT (4) has started 3 times since arriving in Qld and has mixed his gait and not been the most reliable conveyance. He threw his chances away 1st up and then again made an error but the run was solid when grabbing 3rd behind LAVROS TEXAS 2nd up. He comes with a risk but if can get it right, he can take this. MISS INVASION (11) was responsible for a big run here on Tues when she made a mess of the start and lost all chance. Making a late charge there was a bit to like how she finished the race when out of contention. She moves back to the 40m but that might be a blessing in disguise and see her turn it around. STONED AGAIN (9) heads back to AP following another Marburg victory. Starting off a 50m tape there last start he finished too strong for a stylish win. From the 30m tape he is right in this. SCHIPPERS (2) took the trail last start and chased hard when holding on for the bronze. Safe from the tapes she can step away and fill another placing with the right run near the front.
SELECTIONS: GREG THE GREAT (4), MISS INVASION (11), STONED AGAIN (9), SCHIPPERS (2) SUGGESTED BET: GREG THE GREAT (4) to win
RACE SEVEN
CAPITALIZE (2) has been runner-up at 3 of his past 4 starts and beaten no further than 3.5m. Grabbed late when working his way to the front 2 starts back, his latest effort was strong from the breeze when sitting outside MISS MONEYBAGS. With the gate advantage he can turn the tables. MISS MONEYBAGS (6) made the most of finding the pegs from gate 3 last start and once in control was able to fight then off for a good win. That was her 1st run back for the season and she should take good benefit from the run after just 1 trial which was back in December. Is the threat. NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (4) put the writing on the wall following a good return for her 3YO season when 2nd from gate 6 at Redcliffe. That was franked when finishing best from the 2nd line last start and she can place here. ALI DOWNUNDER (9) resumes from a spell and was last seen when winning an early season 3YO back in Sept. Given a trial where he wasn’t knocked around, he will take good benefit from the run. SELECTIONS: CAPITALIZE (2), MISS MONEYBAGS (6), NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (4), ALI DOWNUNDER (9) SUGGESTED BET: CAPITALIZE (2) to win
RACE EIGHT JUST JOSHIN (7) made a mess of the start when resuming at Redcliffe last time out and looked to have lost all chance. Catching the field after being at least 70m away, he fought hard to be 5m from the winner. He is banished to the outside but with the small field he can overcome the impediment. REGAL ROCK (1) looked to have had his chance last start in the final of the Marburg to Albion series but had no answer for the winner when finishing a 2m 2nd. He scraped into that final after a luckless effort when he didn’t see space to challenge and with the options from the gate can atone. HEADWIN (2) wasn’t suited from gate 6 in the same final as REGAL ROCK and was wide off the track for a long way. From the improved gate he can have an early shot for the pegs and is in the mix. THE RAGNBONE MAN (3) will take good benefit from his latest run when resuming from a break and having just his 4th career start. Finishing 4m from the winner SEA HAWKE he wont be far away here.
SELECTIONS: JUST JOSHIN (7), REGAL ROCK (1), HEADWIN (2), THE RAGNBONE MAN (3) SUGGESTED BET: JUST JOSHIN (7) to win
RACE NINE BETTOR ATOM (7) was making his Qld debut here 2 starts back when making an early error that cost him any chance. Again making an early error last start he chased hard and his closing 800m section was sharp in a beaten run. Moving to the front line, albeit wide out should help and he can feature in the small field. SHERIFF JUJON (6) settled in the running line from the 2nd line at Redcliffe 3 starts back and finished best to claim a tidy win in restricted company. He did a few things wrong last start over the sprint trip at Redcliffe and although winless in 8 attempts here at AP, he looks to get a chance in an open contest. ONLY IN ROME (5) chased hard behind ROYAL LINCOLN here on Tues in a nice effort which followed a 5m 4th behind IM FREE FALLING. Never far away he can be in the mix here. DOMESTIC ART (1) wasn’t suited when snagged back from a wide gate last start and the start prior he came up with the 2nd line in a stronger race. With the good gate he can look to take advantage early and can place.
SELECTIONS: BETTOR ATOM (7), SHERIFF JUJON (6), ONLY IN ROME (5), DOMESTIC ART (1) SUGGESTED BET: BETTOR ATOM (7) to win
