Grant Dixon's quest to train more than 200 winners for an eighth-straight season may be put on hold should Australian cricket selectors come knocking.
The Tamborine horseman took (arguably) the catch of the summer shortly after the arms folded back for Race 7 at Redcliffe on Wednesday.
Queensland's most successful trainer over the past decade had his reflexes put to the test when the Reece McGuire-driven Hot Rod Heaven clipped one of the marker pegs, sending it flying back through the field.
A quick-thinking Dixon, who was driving Number 7 Corporal Luna, latched onto the hurtling object and swiftly lobbed it into the infield à la Curtly Ambrose's dismissal of Steve Waugh in the 1989 World Series.
Adding to the remarkable effort was the fact Dixon managed to remain composed to help Corporal Luna finish second behind odds-on shot The Muse.
Dixon's effort continued a proud tradition of Queensland's drivers taking mid-race screamers in recent years.
The 2018 Queensland Winter Racing Carnival produced another memorable take, when young driver Matt Elkins managed to grab onto a flying Keith Durston when he was tipped from his bike at Redcliffe.
