RACE TWO
BRIAN WHO (8) has been racing much stronger opponents than he faces here and was due to race on Fri at AP where he looked well placed. Having his 1st look at the tapes is a query but if he can be safely into stride, he should pack too many guns for this line-up. WEE JIMMY (2) has placed in 2 of 3 from the stand and also placed in 2 of 4 here at the track. Buried in the run last start at Redcliffe after starting from inside the 2nd line, he was hitting the line in good order to be just 6m from the winner. He looms as a threat here. MACH TORQUE (3) ventured to Armidale last start and was forced to work hard in the run from outside the front line and faded in the closing stages. If safe from the tapes she has claims. CAESARS ASTRUM (7) was snagged back early last start from gate 5 before hitting the line nicely. 3rd in a mares qualifier 2 starts back she can chime in here.
SELECTIONS: BRIAN WHO (8), WEE JIMMY (2), MACH TORQUE (3), CAESARS ASTRUM (7) SUGGESTED BET: BRIAN WHO (8) to win
RACE THREE
ESCALERA (3) probably should have 3 successive wins next to his name. However last start he faced a major wheel problem that saw him retired from the race as the $1.10 fav. His previous 2 wins were strong efforts including a 22m space job where was too slick. He looks hard to stop. MY ULTIMATE ROMEO (4) pressed ahead to find the front at Inverell last start and once in control was able to score an easy victory. Grabbed in the closing stages to be beaten a half-head last start, if he can step cleanly, he will be in the fight. GRIZZLY MONTANA (1) ended a long run of outs last start when showing good early speed and was able to dictate in front. One of plenty today making their 1st stand start appearance, he is in the mix. ITZ MAJOR LOOK (6) is the only runner in this race with experience from the tapes and has 1 win from 2 attempts. If he can utilise that experience, he, might just be able to sneak away with the win. SELECTIONS: ESCALERA (3), MY ULTIMATE ROMEO (4), GRIZZLY MONTANA (1), SPORTS STORY (5) SUGGESTED BET: ITZ MAJOR LOOK (6) to place
RACE FOUR GOALKICKER (8) has been racing well and last start was game in defeat after doing all the work in the run when not far behind the smart TROJAN BANNER. That followed a tough run when 2m away in restricted company and with the right start can look to capitalise. FLYING WINGARD (4) returns from a break after retiring from the race last start with an issue when starting as the fav. Not beaten far behind TAKITIMU EXPRESS at Redcliffe 2 starts back, he can look to get a flyer and stay out of trouble. RECIPE FOR DREAMING (7) is in consistent form and will take this on from the Fri back-up at AP where he looked well placed. Runner-up n 4 of his previous 5 and with a stand start win, he can feature. BRONZE ECSTASY (3) was hitting the line strongly over the AP mile 2 starts back in a tidy run. Forget he went around last start where he struck trouble, he has 2 wins on the track and can go close.
SELECTIONS: GOALKICKER (8), FLYING WINGARD (4), RECIPE FOR DREAMING (7), BRONZE ECSTASY (3) SUGGESTED BET: GOALKICKER (8) to win
RACE FIVE
TOPNOTCH MACH (3) has been trying hard to win his 1st race since arriving in Qld but he just keeps finding a way to miss out. A two-time winner from the tapes, if he can get away cleanly, today could be the day that he breaks the duck. MY SECRET TORQUE (2) has quickly developed a record as a Marburg specialist and will attack this with a perfect 3 for 3 record. A stylish winner last start at Armidale when working home form back in the pack, if she can handle her 1st start from the tapes she will be hard to stop. RIVERLEIGH JEFF (8) should appreciate getting back to Marburg in this type of company after taking on some better types in recent outings. A six-time winner on the track, he won’t be far away. WHERES THE SPIRIT (5) will be having his 1st look at both Marburg and the stand start. He has been meeting much stronger opponents in recent starts and must be taken on trust. SELECTIONS: TOPNOTCH MACH (3), MY SECRET TORQUE (2), RIVERLEIGH JEFF (8), WHERES THE SPIRIT (5) SUGGESTED BET: TOPNOTCH MACH (3) to win
RACE SIX ARGYLE BEACH (5) worked hard in the run last start when sent forward to the breeze and was in for the fight when only 4m from the winner FRANCO TOTEM. Fitter for the run after she was 2nd up from a break, she is a good beginner from the tapes and can look to make light work of the 20m impost. GANGSTER BOY (7) has faded off his past 2 starts after working in the run with the hard runs taking its toll. A winner at his only appearance here at Marburg when stepping cleanly from a big handicap and putting them away, he can look to gain some form here. PROFICIENT (1) will take some benefit from his run at AP on Fri where he resumes from a spell. Trialling in good order for his return, off the front he can be in the mix. WILLS (2) might just appreciate the conditions here after struggling to find his rhythm since arriving in Qld. Off the front line he can get the right type of run to feature.
SELECTIONS: ARGYLE BEACH (5), GANGSTER BOY (7), PROFICIENT (1), WILLS (2) SUGGESTED BET: ARGYLE BEACH (5) to win
RACE SEVEN
MR MEDDLE (4) has been racing in great form and has a nice record from the tapes where he has been able to finish in the money at 4 of 5 appearances. He hit the line in good order last start and was a tidy winner 3 starts back when running away from them. He can take hold of this. SIR JULIAN (6) continues to race consistently and last start was working home in good order to grab the silver behind WATCH PULP FICTION after charging home from a long way back. With excellent figures from the stand, he looms as the danger. FRANCO TOTEM (7) took them all the way last start when leading from gate 1 and fighting them all off. A reasonably safe beginner, he is in the mix. THE SHADY ONE (8) is on the back-up from Fri where he looked a strong chance. A winner at his only Marburg appearance, with the right run he can be swooping home into the money. SELECTIONS: MR MEDDLE (4), SIR JULIAN (6), FRANCO TOTEM (7), THE SHADY ONE (8) SUGGESTED BET: MR MEDDLE (4) to win
RACE EIGHT ELMS CREEK (2) was too strong from the breeze last start at Redcliffe when digging in for the fight and scoring a stylish win after being sent forward from the 2nd line. He might need to work in the run again here but he can roll the sleeves and come out on top. UNDERTHEKILT (1) is a smart beginner who does his beast work when able to light the lamps. He gets those conditions to suit here and with the advantage of the inside gate can look to dictate. A winner 4 starts back at Redcliffe when leading, he is a big danger here. NEWMERELLA SHARKIE (4) is yet to miss a cheque in 6 appearances at Marburg and comes into this after a luckless run last start at AP. Fitter for the run after being 2nd up, he is right in the fight. KARINYA MULLY (5) was forced to work wide off the track last start at Redcliffe from a wide gate and couldn’t get into the contest. With even luck here he has some claims.
SELECTIONS: ELMS CREEK (2), UNDERTHEKILT (1), NEWMERELLA SHARKIE (4), KARINYA MULLY (5) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-4-5
