Hear from the beaten jockeys following some of the features on Group 1 Doomben Cup Day from the Brisbane Racing Club.

Racing Queensland wishes to thank Sky Racing and all jockeys who participated to bring this important information to punters.

RACE 5 - LISTED BRIGHT SHADOW QUALITY

2nd - Test The World (Tim Clark): I had a beautiful run but no excuses and the winner was too good. She went as good as she can.

3rd - River Racer (Michael Cahill): She ran well. She got back and gave a bit of a start away but she finished well. She continues to race in good form.

7th - Indecision (Leith Innes):  Little bit disappointing. She had a nice trip just behind the leaders.

8th - Epidemic (Larry Cassidy): I thought she was a little disappointing. I jumped and got a nice spot but she failed to hit the line.  Maybe she was a little flat from a hard run at the Gold Coast.

9th - Bisou (Mark Du Plessis): Got into a nice spot from draw one but probably a little rich for her.

RACE 6 - LISTED CHIEF DE BEERS

2nd - Straturbo (Tim Clark): He went excellent. He had a lovely run and presented at the right time. He looked the winner but the 1110 metres just found him out. The last three hops just found him out. He’s going great for an old horse.

6th - Meet Mr Taylor (Mark Du Plessis): He’s an on-speed horse and just couldn’t get it from that barrier which cost him the race.

7th - Mr Marbellouz (Baylee Nothdurft):  I couldn’t have been happier with him. He’s just looking for 1350 metres now.

8th - Volkoff (Michael Cahill):  She was beaten for speed early and peaked on her run at the 200m.

9th - Prompt Return (Jeff Lloyd): Not up to it.

11th - Sony Legend (Robbie Fradd): I probably gave wide a whole new meaning but he needs something a bit easier and a good gate.

RACE 7 - GROUP 3 BRC SPRINT

2nd - Violate (Luke Nolen):  He was terrific. It was a nice run for the Stradbroke in three weeks’ time. He’s in great nick.

3rd - I’m A Rippa (Jeff Lloyd): It was a great run under the conditions of the race and everything. He’s a real tough horse. He lived up to it.

7th - Passage Of Time (Sam Clipperton): Bit disappointing and probably would have been better with a sit but couldn’t do that with a wide draw.

8th - Niccanova (James Orman): We got back and rode for a bit of luck but there wasn’t much room up the straight. Hopefully he’ll get into the Stradbroke. He’ll run well in that.

10th - Coldstone (James McDonald): Just wasn’t able to finish off the race.

12th - Freddie Fox Trot (Daniel Griffin): I had no luck on him and had a lovely run. Got buried in the straight but overall it wasn’t a good run.

13th - Boomsara (Tim Clark):  I had a tough trip but he may not have come up this time in.

RACE 8 - GROUP 1 DOOMBEN CUP

2nd - Life Less Ordinary (Jason Collett): It was a good run. From the barrier I had to weave a path through them. He launched late.

3rd - Sixties Groove (Larry Cassidy):  He ran a good race. He did get back a bit further than I hoped but they ran along pretty quick. He flowed along beautifully and I followed the winner. I tracked up behind the winner on the turn. Chris said he was second up so don’t expose him too early. The winner dashed and went in so I went to the outside. When I cleared the outside horse, I thought I was going to win but I couldn’t see the other two creep up on the inside. It was a very good run.

7th - Tally (Tim Clark):  He ran excellently.  Maybe just the brutal 2000 metres second up found him out late but he was there right to the last little bit.

8th - Academus (Corey Brown): He ran good but after the quick back up he was a little on the fresh side and over raced too early. He stuck on well.

9th - Youngstar (Kerrin McEvoy): Just failed to travel. At the 1100 metre mark I was off the bridle but she stayed on well to run a respectable race. She was a bit below her best today.

11th - Fierce Impact (Michael Walker): He’s a funny horse to ride and needs things to go his way.

12th - Mister Sea Wolf (Jeff Lloyd): He didn’t settle too well over the 2000 metres and just raced too keenly.

13th - Big Duke (Sam Clipperton): Super run. He wasn’t tested up the straight and is holding his form.

15th - On The Rocks (Jake Bayliss): He came here today and was thrown into the deep end in a competitive field. It didn’t help early when he was put over the fence for about three strides. He’s a typical colt and switched off after that. It was a strongly run tempo and he never really travelled. He did look a bit pretty in the yard so he needed the run.

RACE 9 - GROUP 2 THE ROSES

3rd - Welsh Legend (Leith Innes): She burst through like she had the race in her hands. It was a nice run.

7th - Scarlet Dream (Blake Shinn): I thought she ran a creditable race from back in the field. She was unsuited getting back and having to make up ground around this tight turning circuit.

8th - Winning Ways (Matt McGillivray): It was a really good run under the circumstances. She got held up inside of Light Up The Room but she hit the line well.

9th - On The White Turf (James McDonald): I was very pleased with her. She did a bit of work through the mid stages. She travelled well and she’ll come on immensely and will be a force to be reckoned with in the Oaks.

12th Pinmedown (Michael Walker): It was just the track. She was off the bridle the whole way. I did my form on her and she’s a lot better horse than that but just not today.

14th - Tatcee (Michael Cahill): Wasn’t that comfortable in the ground and found that grade too strong.
