RACE TWO
CLARRY (8) is bursting to win a race and if this can unfold as expected, he gets every chance to capitalise. From gate 12 last start he settled a long way back and then produced some brilliant closing sections to get within 3m of victory. Forced to do it tough the week prior, he can arrive here. CELTIC CRUZA (1) started from the 2nd line last start over the mile when finding the line in good order to be 1m from the winner SUR LE FEU. He was too tough from the breeze the week prior in a small field at Redcliffe and hustling hard early, he can protect the pegs and look to see it out. THE GOLDEN CROSS (2) is still in search of an elusive Qld win, however his recent runs suggest it may not be far away after placing his past 4 in succession. He went under a head last run and will fight. ASHKII (11) started 5’s on here last week and never looked a chance when beaten 8m. The short quote was off the back of a dominant all the way win the start prior. Forgiven, he has claims. SELECTIONS: CLARRY (8), CELTIC CRUZA (1), THE GOLDEN CROSS (2), ASHKII (11) SUGGESTED BET: CLARRY (8) to win
RACE THREE
MAMMALS MAGIC (11) has been in the money at her past 7 in succession now as she looks to claim an elusive mares qualifying victory. Settling in the running line form gate 6 last start she was working home well for the bronze in slick time behind INNOCENT CROCKER. With the right trip she can arrive. JUST ROKIN (1) finished mid-field behind AQUA MISS here on Tues over the mile after settling in the 1x1 trail from gate 3. The start prior she burnt too much in the early stages which took its toll in the slick time set by INNOCENT CROCKER. With the options from the gate, she is in the mix here. CHARLYSE (10) had been racing well and was rewarded here last start when claiming a 2nd division qualifier after finishing over the top. With the right cart into the contest she can go close again. ON THAT DAY (3) was too strong from gate 10 over the Redcliffe 2040m trip 2 starts back, going clear to score a 7m victory. Forced to work in the breeze last start, she can fire early bullets here. SELECTIONS: MAMMALS MAGIC (11), JUST ROKIN (1), CHARLYSE (10), ON THAT DAY (3) SUGGESTED BET: MAMMALS MAGIC (11) to win
RACE FOUR IDEALAGAIN (2) will take further benefit from her latest run when having just her 3rd run in the past 7 weeks following a 12-month break. Locked away on the pegs over the mile, she was too far back to make a deficit. Her 2nd up run was sharp and with her best gate since returning can capitalise. BONNIE JUJON (11) was buried away on the pegs last start from inside the 2nd line and the run was better than the reward, finishing 9m from the winner. Not suited when wide out in the run from gate 7 here 2 starts back, she lands another tough gate but this looks within reach with even luck. OLIVER WINKLE (5) was snagged back from gate 6 in a much tougher race here last week and was making good closing metres when finishing mid-field. Limiting the mid-race burn, he can feature. RIVERLEIGH JEFF (8) made the most of conditions to lead throughout at Marburg from gate 1 last start over the 2200m trip. With a cosy trip on offer here, he can chime into the exotics.
SELECTIONS: IDEALAGAIN (2), BONNIE JUJON (11), OLIVER WINKLE (5), RIVERLEIGH JEFF (8) SUGGESTED BET: IDEALAGAIN (2) to win
RACE FIVE
ARGYLE BEACH (9) was sent forward over the 2900m early from the 20m tape at Marburg last start and once taking control, put them to the sword in scoring by 28m and smashing the track record. Only 4m from the winner here 3 starts back, she can finish over the top of a strong tempo here. A GOOD CHANCE (5) is in great touch and last start finished best from back in the pack to claim victory by a head. Taking advantage of a strong tempo, he was able to stop the clock in a sizzling PB of 1.5.1.9. Tough from the breeze 2 starts back, he can throw down the challenge here. SOMEPARTYSOMEWHERE (3) was a winner when resuming from a spell, leading throughout from the walk-ups. Put a line through his last start, taking control here he will make them earn it. TULHURST ACE (4) made the most of gate 3 to claim a qualifier here 2 starts back, scoring a big 25m victory in a powerful display over the 2138m trip. Beaten by the barrier last start, he can chime in here. SELECTIONS: ARGYLE BEACH (9), A GOOD CHANCE (5), SOMEPARTYSOMEWHERE (3), TULHURST ACE (4) SUGGESTED BET: ARGYLE BEACH (9) to win
RACE SIX JILLIBY NITRO (2) was looking to remain undefeated in his APG heat at his 4th career start, when taking the trail behind MACH DAN and then unable to get past him after the race developed into a 200m sizzle up the stretch. Brutal when claiming the Bathurst Gold Crown from gate 7, he looks set to lead them a merry dance here from the top gate. SMOOTH BAHT (8) was arguably the run of the race outside of the winner JILLIBY NITRO in the Bathurst Crown, attacking the line in good order from back in the pack. His closing panels were solid when 3rd in his Menangle heat and if able to hustle to protect his peg-line position, then he looks a good quinella play, however his early speed is questionable. STAR HUNTER (4) secured a Newcastle win on debut and soon followed that with a tough win from the 2nd line at Penrith. Grabbed in the closing strides in his Menangle heat, he might just be able to create the space to find the leaders back and that would be a big advantage. BE HAPPY MACH (6) is the only runner in either division that comes into the Finals undefeated. With a perfect 3 for 3 record, he rolled the sleeves to hang tough and score a 6m heat win. Showing versatility with some slick moves up the passing lane 2 starts back, he will be right in the fight.
SELECTIONS: JILLIBY NITRO (2), SMOOTH BAHT (8), STAR HUNTER (4), BE HAPPY MACH (6) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2-4-6-8
RACE SEVEN
COLT THIRTY ONE (7) continues on his preparation towards the Winter Carnival after winning all 3 starts this time in. Having little trouble in working to the front over the 2138m last start, it was little more than a training run in scoring by 10m. He will need to work this time, but still looks too smart. JILLIBY BANDIT (6) will provide some opposition for the favourite and lands the first blow by virtue of drawing 1 gate closer to the pegs. Leading throughout to score over the sprint trip at Melton last time out, he can get forward in the early stages and try to make the early blows count. SALOON PASSAGE (5) opened his Qld account here on Tues when sprinting home sharply to claim victory over the 2647m stand trip. His previous 2 runs indicated a win wasn’t far off and he can place WITHALOTOFLUCK (3) settled in the pocket trail from gate 1 over the mile last start and chased gamely in the stretch to claim the silver. Fitter again after 2 runs back from a break, he is an exotic player. SELECTIONS: COLT THIRTY ONE (7), JILLIBY BANDIT (6), SALOON PASSAGE (5), WITHALOTOFLUCK (3) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 7 / 6 / 3- 4 -5
RACE EIGHT PELOSI (2) was brutal in her heat win when unleashing a power running display to stop the clock in the 2nd-fastest mile ever run by a 2YO at Albion Park. Showing ability since starting her career, her past 2 have seen her dictate and if allowed to take control here, it should be game over. The chink might be if the race is taken up to her, however her ability can help get her home. JEMSTONE (6) was a debut winner, zipping home in a smart 56.5 closing 800m early in the season. Kept fresh, she has won her past 2 outings when able to get forward to take control, with her heat run a tidy effort, winning the race through a sharp 3rd panel. Provided she arrives in order, she can throw down the challenge. ROSCOMMON ROSE (9) made her debut back in Feb at Bathurst and was put away again following the run. Returning for start number 2 in the heats of this Series, there was plenty to like in how she found the line in scoring a smart win. Finding the right trail, look for her to attack off the speed. MIRISSA BEACH (8) was locked away against the pegs in her heat and when sighting open track was closing out nicely to get within 1.5m of the winner JEMSTONE. A smart Ballarat winner on debut, she will be probing for the gaps.
SELECTIONS: PELOSI (2), JEMSTONE (6), ROSCOMMON ROSE (9), MIRISSA BEACH (8) SUGGESTED BET: PELOSI (2) to win
RACE NINE THE SHADY ONE (6) is in great touch and will shoot for the hat-trick here after wins at the mile and then last week over the 2138m trip. Saved for the closing shot here last start, he swooped hard and arrived on the line for the narrowest of wins. With a tidy record from the tapes, he can cash-in. ALLELUIA (8) has the 30m tape to negotiate here, but he is safe from the stand and despite his numbers not reflecting it, is racing in good order. Only 6m from the winner last start over the mobile 2138m, his run 3 back was sharp when charging late. He has the class to overcome the impost SIR JULIAN (2) went around from the stand here on Tues when settling in the pocket trail and holding on for the bronze in a pair of sub-28 second closing panels. Settling handy again suits. ELENIARK (7) makes her debut from the tapes and will also be resuming from a spell. Last seen when 4m in arrears after starting fav, if anywhere near her best, she could feature. Her manners are the query.
SELECTIONS: THE SHADY ONE (6), ALLELUIA (8), SIR JULIAN (2), ELENIARK (7), SUGGESTED BET: THE SHADY ONE (6) to win
RACE TEN MAYBETOTHEMAX (4) will take added benefit from his latest start when 2nd up from a break. Sent to the post as fav he made an early error from the tapes, losing all chance. Tacking on, his closing sectionals were strong and the return to mobile conditions is an advantage he can capitalise on. OUR OVERANOVA (7) wasn’t sighted through April with his last run coming when facing a huge ask from the rear with the tempo making it impossible to run into the contest. His AP mobile record is superb and despite the wide gate he will be right in the fight here. JUSTABITNOISY (2) was only beaten 4m last time out and never had a clear crack at them, looking for gaps that didn’t arrive. Only beaten a half-neck here 3 starts back, he won’t be far away. MISTER GUNSEN (6) settled in the 1x1 last start and couldn’t go on with it in the closing stages over the long trip after starting on the 2nd line. Back to the front over the mile, he will put the speed on.
SELECTIONS: MAYBETOTHEMAX (4), OUR OVERANOVA (7), JUSTABITNOISY (2), MISTER GUNSEN (6) SUGGESTED BET: MAYBETOTHEMAX (4) to win
