RACE TWO
PSYCHEDELIC (7) will need some favours in transit, but with a cosy trip on offer can be ready to take the snipers shot when the gaps open. 3 starts back he charged along the inside to claim the cash over the AP 2138m and has faced 2nd line gates at his past 2 appearances. He can arrive for the prize. MAKOA (4) was snagged back early from gate 6 last start and was charging home in the closing stages to get within 3m of the winner CLARKEY. Runner-up at his previous 2 starts, including a luckless run when only beaten a half-neck, he will be swooping home hard here. LIKEALLOFUS (1) made the most of an improved gate to take them all the way here 3 starts back over the longer 2280m trip. From gate 12 last start he attacked the line strongly and with the early options is right in the fight. OUR MAJOR DAY (10) again has no luck from the barrier gods, landing his 4th consecutive 2nd line alley. Driven for some luck last start that didn’t arrive, he never had a shot at them. With a solid record on the track he just needs some luck. SELECTIONS: PSYCHEDELIC (7), MAKOA (4), LIKEALLOFUS (1), OUR MAJOR DAY (10) SUGGESTED BET: OUR MAJOR DAY (10) each-way
RACE THREE
Tagging along for the Qld vacation with his Derby hopeful stable-mate, KARLOO DAMAJOR (4) finds himself in a winnable race. Finding the pocket trail at Bathurst last start from the walk-up start, he chased gamely for the silver behind ROYAL STORY. Only a flared nostril off victory 3 starts back, he can earn some holiday cash here. THUNDER MAC (1) took on a restricted event last start and was sent to the breeze from the 2nd line when proving too strong in taking a 2m victory. That was his 2nd run back from a break and with the added fitness along with the gate advantage, he will be right in the fight here. AIR TIME (10) transfers to the Steve Cini barn following his last start 2nd in an AP qualifier. Rolling the sleeves and fighting hard in the breeze, he went within a head of success. The gate stings but he is in the mix. VASARI (9) was forced to race tough last start and was throwing down the tempo from the breeze, fading in the closing stages. 2nd here 2 starts back when circling them early, he will be fighting hard. SELECTIONS: KARLOO DAMAJOR (4), THUNDER MAC (1), AIR TIME (10), VASARI (9) SUGGESTED BET: KARLOO DAMAJOR (4) to win
RACE FOUR She was the Qld 2YO of the year last year, yet the talented filly SMART AS CAMM BE (5) will be having her 1st race start at Redcliffe in this. Given a trial to familiarise herself with the triangle in readiness, she will be 1st up since the Vic Oaks in April when she was below her best. A heat winner of that series, she can match her moniker in this field. FOR ALL WE KNOW (1) was in for the fight when grabbing the silver behind TUAPEKA LIGHT at her 1st outing since switching stables and franked the quality of that run with an all the way win last start over the AP mile. Setting a new career PB in the process, she will be fitter from that run and will give plenty from the good gate. ALLABOUTDREAMS (11) started from gate 12 in the same race as FOR ALL WE KNOW last time out and was put into the contest early facing the breeze and falling 3m short. With another tough gate, place claims look best. NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (8) has not missed a trifecta position in 7 appearances on the track and last start was charging home to grab 2nd. With a cheap run on offer, she can be sprinting hard when the gaps appear to fill the exotics.
SELECTIONS: SMART AS CAMM BE (5), FOR ALL WE KNOW (1), ALLABOUTDREAMS (11), NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (8) SUGGESTED BET: SMART AS CAMM BE (5) to win
RACE FIVE
DAZZLE ME (3) will step out for his 1st Qld appearance as he looks to blaze a Derby trail for trainer Barry Lew. Undefeated at his 1st 3 Aus starts, he then went to a Carousel heat where he released the front and held 3rd behind the smart SICARIO. He took on older horses in the Peak Hill Cup last start where he set a slick closing 800m, fading in the closing stages. He can open the best way possible. REGULUS (2) was driven confidently despite being locked away and when the gaps arrived was able to sprint sharply to claim the 3YO Sales Series final here last start. That made it 3 wins from 4 attempts on the triangle with his AP win 5 starts back when setting a new career benchmark from the front in a slick mile. He can look to dictate. BARRETT (9) settled in the pocket trail in a qualifier against the older horses last start and showed good zip to arrive up the passing lane. Fitter for the outing, he is the off-pace runner to watch swooping. WE SALUTE YOU (1) will be 1st up from a freshen and 1st up since arriving in Qld in a stable switch to the Dixon barn. Trilling in good order to prepare, with the benefit of the inside gate he can chime in. SELECTIONS: DAZZLE ME (3), REGULUS (2), BARRETT (9), WE SALUTE YOU (1) SUGGESTED BET: DAZZLE ME (3) to win
RACE SIX A capacity field stand start will make the tactics and start manners all important here and throw in a mix of a few having their 1st start from the tapes and others bringing excellent stand manners. Prepared to take a risk on CLINTAL DO (2) who will be having his 1st look at the strands under race conditions. 6 of his past 7 mobile starts have been from the 2nd line where he has consistently been running home strong closing panels. Luckless last start, his Redcliffe record is strong and is worth a ticket at odds. MO CASINO (1) has been in great touch since arriving in Qld and although having his 1st run on the triangle under race conditions, he has been able to win from the stand twice at his past 4 starts. Buried away in the Flashing Red he used the passing lane to grab the bronze and stepping cleanly is a big danger. NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (10) came out swinging in the Mr Feelgood in what was being built up as the heavyweight battle of Albion Park. Staring down COLT THRITY ONE from the breeze, it didn’t go to plan and the white towel landed on the track at the 400m pole. Back to the stand conditions where he was the Flashing Red winner 4 starts ago, he will search for redemption.
LILAC FLASH (11) sat at the rear from a 2nd line alley in the Mr Feelgood and was attacking the line with venom when grabbing the silver behind COLT THIRTY ONE. With a perfect 5 from 5 record here on the triangle, he steps from the tapes for the 1st time and if doing it cleanly will be the swooper to watch.
SELECTIONS: CLINTAL DO (2), MO CASINO (1), NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (10), LILAC FLASH (11) SUGGESTED BET: CLINTAL DO (2) each-way
RACE SEVEN
After 2 heats for this series 10 days ago, the most impressive of the 2 winners was without doubt GOVERNOR JUJON (6) when making a mid-race charge at the 1000m to assume control and hold on to score. This guy looks a very classy prospect in the making and from gate 6, I doubt they will take the risk of getting back in the pack. He can stay undefeated to go 4 from 4. AMAYA BECOMES (1) led from this same gate through the first 800m before content to take the trail on GOVERNOR JUJON when he sprinted around the field. The Breeders Classic winner back in April, she has won twice and been runner-up twice in 4 career starts and from the gate is right in the fight. TAKE IN THE GOLD (9) will take great improvement from his 1st Qld start in the heats when rolling forward from the 2nd line to face the breeze. Fighting gamely, he held on for the bronze and with the right cart through early in this can chime into the money at some value. KYRONTA (7) ended up a long way back in the pack in the heat and was sound to the line to sneak into the Final. With the benefit of a cosy trip on the markers available here, look for him sneaking along the inside. SELECTIONS: GOVERNOR JUJON (6), AMAYA BECOMES (1), TAKE IN THE GOLD (9), KYRONTA (7) SUGGESTED BET: GOVERNOR JUJON (6) to win
RACE EIGHT It may be a rise in class to what she has been facing, but with good early manners from pole position, SPIRIT WALKER (1) might just be able to spring an upset. The 7YO mare has a few things in her favour, including a superb record at the track and an equally strong record over the longer trip. A smart winner 3 starts back, she can make start 100 a truly memorable one. MAJESTIC COURTNEY (10) is a smart square gaiter on the rise and lines up in search of his 9th career win and 6th in succession. Stepping cleanly to take them all the way at his Qld debut last start, he cruised home in stylish fashion. The early traffic is a concern, yet if overcoming that he is the danger. JUSTABITNOISY (7) has been going well without the reward for his effort in recent starts. He didn’t have the cleanest run last start, which followed 3 successive placings. Look for him taking short-cuts. OUR OVERANOVA (13) is a five-time winner on this track with one of those wins setting the track record for these conditions from this same handicap. Tough from the breeze last start, he is always in the fight.
SELECTIONS: SPIRIT WALKER (1), MAJESTIC COURTNEY (10), JUSTABITNOISY (7), OUR OVERANOVA (13) SUGGESTED BET: SPIRIT WALKER (1) each-way
RACE NINE LEOS BEST (6) bounced back to winning form when finishing best to claim a 1780m stand start victory here last time out and in the process, break a track record that dated back 7 years. Approaching a fitness peak after 5 runs back from a long break and an excellent record here on the track, he can overcome the gate. THE FAITHFUL (1) started from gate 1 over the mile 2 starts back when settling in the pocket trail. With the leader hoisting the white flag at the 300m, his momentum ended and he didn’t really get going again once the gap did arrive. With the options from the gate, he can be an improver in this. A GOOD CHANCE (7) has been brave in defeat at recent starts and will appreciate a soft trip that should be on offer here. Breezing in 1.51.8 miles at his past 2 starts, he will get to swoop here. HOLY CAMP CLIVE (8) makes his Redcliffe debut and comes into this with a pair of tidy runs since returning for his winter pilgrimage. Attacking the line strongly last start, look for him flooding home.
SELECTIONS: LEOS BEST (6), THE FAITHFUL (1), A GOOD CHANCE (7), HOLY CAMP CLIVE (8) SUGGESTED BET: LEOS BEST (6) to win
