Sky Racing will implement a national first tomorrow night with live sectional times to be broadcast as part of the 2019 TAB Queensland Winter Harness Racing Carnival.
In recent times, Racing Queensland has been consulting with Sky Racing and Panasonic Studio Productions on the concept, which has previously been restricted to the race call.
But in a national first, live sectional times will now be broadcast across all TAB harness meetings in Queensland, providing punters with key in-race information on their screens.
“Sectional times are critical to the story of every harness race,” RQ COO Adam Wallish said.
“With the support of our broadcast partners, we’re able to provide viewers with more information than ever before and supports recent innovations in the harness code including the introduction of a mobile barrier camera.”
Having trialled the technology earlier this week, live sectional times will be implemented for tomorrow night’s listed Wondais Mate Open before being introduced at Redcliffe on Sunday.
With a further seven Group 1 races just around the corner as part of the winter carnival, Tabcorp EGM Media and International, Darren Pearce, thinks it’s an ideal time to be innovative.
“I’m sure our viewers will love this. Sectional times are such a crucial part of harness racing and tell the story of how the race is unfolding,” Pearce said.
“As well as being advantageous for punters, we also see displaying the sectional times as adding something fresh to harness coverage to help engage and inform new fans.”
