Racing Queensland has commenced an Expression of Interest process for suitable qualified candidates to join its Racing Advisory Panels as independent members.
In recent years, the Advisory Panels – Thoroughbred, Greyhound and Harness - have played an active role in advancing the Queensland racing industry through the formulation of key strategies, concepts and initiatives.
As part of the Queensland Government’s prize money increases during 2018/19, a Racing Industry Forum was conducted at Parliament House in March to discuss a range of reform measures including modern governance practices.
Following the Racing Industry Forum, RQ committed to reviewing the current structure of its Advisory Panels, including the required skillsets, framework and composition numbers, which has occurred over the past few months.
As a result of the review, a number of recommendations have been endorsed including the commencement of an EOI process for independent members to join the Advisory Panels.
Applicants are asked to outline their racing, commercial and other credentials, along with their vision for racing.
New Panel members will be initially appointed on a two-year term, with three meetings conducted per year.
RQ will seek to appoint two independents per Advisory Panel through the EOI process, with remaining members direct appointees.
Submissions are required by 5pm on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
