Trainer - Tony Sears

"What she lacks in size she makes up with courage. There's nothing of her but it doesn't seem to affect her racing."

"We were pretty confident when she got the nice easy lead from the gate and the claim. I was holding my breath the last hundred but she pulled out plenty."

"Unfortunately Maddysen (Sears) couldn't be here today. She put he hand through a glass plate and got operated on today. She'll come through but it would have been nice to share our first Saturday win together."

"She's eligible for the Magic Millions, but I'd probably suggest a break and hopefully she'll grow a little bit more."

Jockey - Corey Bayliss

"Things were just perfect. She was out wide last time but from barrier two used her natural gate speed to hunt up for an easy lead."

"I saw them pulling three and four wide but I just had to keep my cool and wait to pull the stick because I knew we'd had a nice trip."

Trainer - Ethan Ensby

"That was brilliant! Nori (Noriyuka Masuda) is riding enormous at the moment and that gives us both our first metropolitan winners, it’s a big day.”

“I’ve got to give him a lot of credit. He rides the horse at home everyday and deserves everything he gets.”

“The horse is flying at the moment I thought he’d win a bit easier than he did today but he toughed it out and we’ll head to Sydney in two weeks with him.”

“We toyed with the idea of blinkers a while back and he wasn’t doing much in his races so we put them on and they’ve really turned him around.”

“Nori and I have been best mates for a long time we used to work together at Ballina and I always said if I got a trainers license he would be riding and I’m glad I could keep my word.”

Jockey – Noriyuka Masuda

“He came off two wins off the country circuit. It was a step up in the city but he’s a fit horse and in form, I was fairly confident too.”

“I’ve had a couple of winners mid-week metropolitan, but this was my first Saturday.

“Last weekend I was riding at Stanthorpe and won the cup now I’m at Eagle Farm.”

Trainer - Steven O'Dea

"It's a good effort. She's only a Class One horse and coming here to a benchmark seventy on Saturday is a big effort considering we were going to bypass and go to Grafton on Tuesday."

"They ran along even enough for her today and it definitely helped when the roughie went up wide and put a bit of pace on. It gave her a chance to get off the fence and find clear room, she's a lovely big striding mare and kept finding to the line."

"She did a lot wrong in her maiden, but she's a horse that's a lot more balanced this time in and will only improve with time."

Jockey - Steph Thornton

"Full credit to the horse third time in. Up to 1800 from the 1400 metres, and she was really honest to the line."

"She actually bunny hopped out of the gates and I had to actually duck so I didn't hit my head ."

"We ended up in a good spot. We were able to hug the rail and pinch ground without doing any work and she's a big girl and when i asked her for an effort she was very honest."

Trainer - Kevin Kemp

"Really good ride by Luke (Tarrant), he picked his way through and made sure he was in the finish."

"My wife picked the horse, she liked the look of it and I said if it doesn't cost too much go and buy it."

"We got him for $25,000 so he's more than returned his investment."

"He was a bit jumpy early on but he's turned into a gentle giant. He's just getting better with age and racing and we look forward to the 2000 metres at Doomben in a fortnight."

"We've taken him to Sydney before where he went well running second, so that's an option and he looks a great Toowoomba Cup prospect too."

Jockey - Luke Tarrant

"All credit to Kevin (Kemp) bringing the horse back in this condition. I thought he was luckless first up and could've won the race if the breaks went his way."

"Better for the run he travelled sweet and once I was able to extract the big boy he found the line like he can."

"Kevin has been a huge supporter of me, obviously having a bit of time off it's good to be back riding Saturday winners for him."

3rd - Alignment - Bryan & Daniel Guy - Jag Guthmann-Chester

cellarmaid.jpeg

Trainer - Kelly Schweida

"She's still got a lot to learn and does a lot of things wrong, but the ability is there for all to see and we'll be certainly looking at some stakes and black type down the track."

"I thought Jimmy (Orman) rode her great, got off the rail and to the outside."

"We weren't going to bring her here but got a bit of a tip that Ballistic Boy wouldn't be here and it looked a nice race for her."

"We're trying to get her into the three-year-old's at Magic Millions. We bought her at the Tasmanian sales and the prize money we picked up today will go a long way towards her target."

Jockey - Jimmy Orman

"She's all over the shop learning what it's all about. I had to switch hands a number of times in the straight but once she got her full head of steam it was a fairly soft win."

"I've always thought once we get her here to Eagle Farm she'd be a much better horse."

"I know Kelly wants to get her to the Magic Millions three-year-old's and if she cleans up her manners in the next few months she'll give that race a real shake."

Race 6 - 2:28PM NUGROW Class 3 Plate (1400 METRES)

2nd - Aeecee Tong De - Desleigh Forster - Mark Du Plessis

3rd - Written With Ease - Stuart Kendrick - Ron Stewart

soxagon.jpeg

Jockey - Baylee Nothdurft

"The plan unfolded perfectly. The plan pre-race was to get the back of Written With Ease at some stage in the run and when I got the opportunity to pop one off behind it early I knew we had the ideal trip."

"He's been really unlucky not to win a race so far this prep. Things just haven't quite gone his way, but the gap he put on them today showed the kind of class he's got."

"Good to have the long straight here at Eagle Farm I was able to balance him up around the turn before letting him go."

Owner - Michael White

"We're all here today (owners), but credit has to go to Gavin Lee who bred and owned him before we tagged on and we've had a lot of fun with this horse."

"We thought today would be his day, that's why we're all here. There was a lot of merit in his first up run. David brought him back in great condition, this is a testament to him as a trainer."

"A cracking ride from Brad (Stewart) as well, he really had to lift him over the latter stages but he timed it to perfection."

3rd - Solar Star - Tony Gollan - Baylee Nothdurft

Trainer - Stuart Kendrick

"He's been a work in progress but today was good. He jumped well got his head up a touch but once he settled very happy with him. I think he can be a pretty smart horse."

"He just wanted to over race early in his career. It's been a bit of a battle getting him to settle but when he does, he can sprint like that."

"The Summer Sprint Series looks ideal for him, so we'll sit down and map out a plan in the next few days."

Jockey - Matthew McGillivray

"I think I've won on him four times now, a big thanks to Stuart and the ownership for sticking with me."

"He's a black type horse for sure. I just told Stuey he can probably get 1400 metres next start but he's got plenty of options with him."

"I was very surprised to see Matthew Dunn's horse outside us and not Langhro and it took a good hundred metres for him to pop up and go to the lead."

"When he backed off the tempo my horse pulled his head and came back to me that's why I suggested the 1400 next start."

2nd - Meet Mr Taylor - Kelly Schweida - Mark Du Plessis

3rd - Sharpe Hussler - Darryl Ward - Dale Smith

tarzan1.jpeg

Trainer - Stuart Kendrick

"He just loves the trip and it's great to get him at Eagle Farm because we all know how much he loves the big straight at the Sunshine Coast and there are quite a few simalarities between the two."

"He's one dimensional. If you try to hold him up he's just not happy. You have to let him go to the front and make things happen."

"He'll go to Caloundra for the $100,000 race in a fortnight's time and being a Magic Millions horse he'll have to get the 1200, but he ran it last prep so hopefully he can carry on."

Jockey - Luke Tarrant

"I've had a couple of my old friends here today with Fighting Teo and now Tarzan not to mention Kempy (Kevin Kemp) and Stuey (Kendrick) who have always supported me it's been a good day."

"He broke alright from the gates today he takes a while to muster but I know he just has to lead and he got there without spending too much."

"He's carrying about ten kilos in the saddle. They challenged him at the top of the straight but he loves the challenge and kept finding."

Stable Foreman - Craig Cavanough

"He's a very genuine little horse every day he goes to the races he gives one hundred percent."

"I have to give Baylee (Nothdurft) a pat on the back for a great ride from the ten alley to get one off the fence midfield probably won us the race."

"He likes to balance up and have plenty of galloping room and he got that last start at Eagle Farm and today as well."

Jockey - Baylee Nothdurft

"I think he's a pretty good horse, last prep he was in pretty good company and he's started to really lift his level this time in."

"We came out of a wide gate but it was one of those races where everything went right."
