RACE TWO
JOEY LINCOLN (6) is a Sweet Lou 3YO on debut for the Al Barnes stable. Trialling in nice style in readiness for his debut, he was able to cruise home to victory in the hit-out, running some sharp time in the process. The wide gate makes it tricky, but he strikes the right type of line-up 1st up. BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (4) makes her 3YO return after 8 starts as a 2YO that netted 2 wins and 6 headaches. Showing her share of ability, she was also extremely head-strong and proved a real handful. With 2 trials to prepare, she has looked more tractable and relaxed this time around and stays under notice. FOUR FOR FOUR (3) struck trouble in the run last start at Redcliffe and finished at the rear. That followed a 2nd to SARIE MARAIS, while her run here 3 starts back had merit. She is in the mix here. ARKADY (1) will take benefit from her debut outing at Redcliffe last week when finding the 1x1 trail from inside the 2nd line. Sound in defeat when mid-field, she can chime into the money here. SELECTIONS: JOEY LINCOLN (6), BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (4), FOUR FOR FOUR (3), ARKADY (1) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE THREE
FOREVER ROCKING (7) doesn’t have any favours from gate 7, yet the filly has continued her development as the season has progressed. Freshened since her last start when 3m from the winner BROKEN ARK, she was beaten by gate 12 the start prior. With some early tempo, she can arrive here. MIND OF MY OWN (5) has been kept fresh and last competed in the same race that FOREVER ROCKING contested last start. Pressing forward to find the front in that event, she was nabbed in the closing stages when 2nd as a beaten fav. A smart winner 2 starts back from gate 6 she can challenge. CUT FROM ROCK (6) returns from a break after a 4-start campaign to start her 3YO term. Recording 1 win in those 4 starts, she is 1st up here without a public trial, with this looking more suitable than her past 2 outings. SIGNOR JUJON (8) was sent to the post as fav last start at Redcliffe from gate 6 and after working hard in the run, faded late to finish 3rd. Needing some luck from this gate, he will be probing.
SELECTIONS: FOREVER ROCKING (7), MIND OF MY OWN (5), CUT FROM ROCK (6), SIGNOR JUJON (8) SUGGESTED BET: FOREVER ROCKING (7) to win
RACE FOUR BLACKSADANCE (1) has been kept fresh since his last appearance when going within a head of victory. Placed at his past 2 starts over the 2138m trip and both from 2nd line barriers, the return to a front-line gate over the mile is a big plus here. Showing his early speed, he can dictate. CAUTIVAR (6) has the tricky gate to negotiate here, yet the 4YO is yet to miss a cheque in 4 starts since arriving in Qld. Placed twice here at The Creek, he went to Redcliffe when charging home from a long way back in scoring a smart win. Runner-up in smart time and closing strongly behind ETERNAL PROMISE last start, he is a danger. NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (7) will take good benefit from her latest start when 2nd up since returning from a break. Finding the front from gate 3 at Redcliffe, she walked them to the 400m before blasting home the last panel. FEARLESS FAITH (4) resumes from break after a 2-start campaign in returning as a 3YO where she was able to score a pair of smart victories in each. A talented filly, she will improve on this.
SELECTIONS: BLACKSADANCE (1), CAUTIVAR (6), NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (7), FEARLESS FAITH (4) SUGGESTED BET: BLACKSADANCE (1) to win
RACE FIVE
A RAINBOW DELIGHT (2) set the tempo last start from gate 3 over the 2138m when returning from a NSW Oaks campaign where she progressed to the Final. With the power on through the last 600m, she had no response to the class of PELOSI and was game in holding on for 3rd. Back to the mile from this gate, she can bounce back. STREET APPEAL (6) has mixed his numbers since arriving in Qld and lines up here after dropping out last start at Redcliffe. Sent to the breeze from the 2nd line, he was keen as the tempo was strong before fading. That followed a sharp win over this trip from gate 12. At his best he can out-gun them. MUMMYS BOY (5) started from gate 6 over the 2138m last start and was forced to race tough when fighting hard and only 7m in arrears. That had followed successive wins and limiting the early burn is in the mix. THE CRUISE MISSILE (10) returns from a break after a narrow defeat last start in a qualifier when 1m from HARD TO HEAR. Better suited when out in front, he can chime in from the tricky gate here.
SELECTIONS: A RAINBOW DELIGHT (2), STREET APPEAL (6), MUMMYS BOY (5), THE CRUISE MISSILE (10) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2-5-6-10
RACE SIX LETTERKENNY BOY (6) steps out for Donny Smith for the 1st time since arriving in Qld, arriving with the handy figures of 6 wins and 3 minors in 19 outings. Always facing a task when snagged back from gate 7 last start at Newcastle, it followed successive wins at Canberra. The gate stings, but he can deliver. MISS MONEYBAGS (3) took on a mares qualifier last start from this gate and was forced to roll the sleeves to race tough in the breeze. Fighting hard to hold 3rd when 5m in arrears, it had followed a tidy 2nd behind the star filly PELOSI. Limiting the work in the run, she can look to challenge. TIMELESS APPEAL (8) sat in the pocket trail last start in a mares qualifier and pairing off in the stretch, peeled off the leaders back to grab the prize. Needing a slice of luck here, she can place. SLIPPERY JADE (5) will find this a shade easier than her last outing at Redcliffe. Eased from gate 5 to take short-cuts, she wasn’t too far from the winner JUMPING JOLT. She has podium claims.
SELECTIONS: LETTERKENNY BOY (6), MISS MONEYBAGS (3), TIMELESS APPEAL (8), SLIPPERY JADE (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SEVEN
B MAC C (5) has lost no admirers in his past 2 starts when filling the minors in a streak of 8 consecutive top-3 placings. Finding the front from gate 7 over the 2138m here 2 starts back, he fought hard when 3m from SPEECH IS SILVER and again followed him home last start after doing all the work. In super form, he looks too sharp for them. LEFT A TERROR (2) rolled forward early from gate 4 last start prior to receiving cover when finishing in good order for the bronze behind MAYWYNS BEST. Forget his previous outing when nothing went right when looking to complete a hat-trick of wins. From this gate he can throw down a challenge. HANDSOME HERO (8) was beaten by gate 7 last start when forced to retreat early and then unable to gain ground in a sub 27 closing panel set from the front. Attacking the line strongly 2 starts back, he will be trying to weave a passage here. JEROSH (1) had a good look for the leading duties last start but was able to slide in behind for the trail as CAMROLLER cruised home to score. With the options from this gate, he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: B MAC C (5), LEFT A TERROR (2), HANDSOME HERO (8), JEROSH (1) SUGGESTED BET: B MAC C (5) to win
RACE EIGHT A tough race to close out the day where the 2138m will pose a query for a few of these. Yet to really display his best since arriving in Qld SAM IS PERFECTION (10) has still turned in some nice efforts and despite the sticky gate, might have found the right conditions. Striking trouble last start yet still within 8m of the winner, he can open his Sunshine State account in this. MISTER HART (8) worked home in good order last start at Redcliffe when 4m from the winner over the 2040m trip. That followed a similar effort when finding the line nicely in the closing stages behind MIDNIGHT MAN. With a slice of luck in seeing space when needed, he can flash late here. DONNY JONES (7) doesn’t have any favours from the outside of the line here, but has been close up in finishing with the bronze his past 2 starts. Working home nicely after retreating from this same gate last start, he is a podium hope.
GOES BOOM (2) went to the pegs last start at Redcliffe when not making much of an impression behind BEACH GODDESS. Settling handy to the action from this gate, he can be sharper in this.
SELECTIONS: SAM IS PERFECTION (10), MISTER HART (8), DONNY JONES (7), GOES BOOM (2) SUGGESTED BET: SAM IS PERFECTION (10) to win
