RACE TWO
In a race where the 2200m could provide a tough challenge for a few, the lamp lighting duties could be available for COUNTRY RUN (4) pressing forward. Fading after a tough run outside the leader last start, it had followed a nice effort when within 2.5m of the winner SOMEHOWSOMEWAY. He should appreciate this class of opponent. BONNIES CAM (3) takes his 1st look at the tight turning Marburg surface and arrives with form in stronger assignments than he will face here. Closing strongly last start at AP when snagged back from gate 4, he was within 10m of the experienced winner FOUR STARZZZ FORSA. Fitter following 2 runs back from a spell, he can challenge. INCITER (5) has a great record on this track with a top-3 in 14 of his 18 outings. Not suited last start when restraining from a wide gate and sent to the inside, he can provide a better return here. DALLAS COWGIRL (1) has not been seen through July, having her last outing here back in late June. Down the line in that after securing the 1x1 trail, she looks set for a cosy trip to finish in the placings. SELECTIONS: COUNTRY RUN (4), BONNIES CAM (3), INCITER (5), DALLAS COWGIRL (1) SUGGESTED BET: COUNTRY RUN (4) to win
RACE THREE
The 1st of 5 heats to be conducted on the card for a Final at Albion Park will mean pressure is on to finish top-two to progress. Despite a sticky gate NIFTY STUDEIGH (7) should appreciate this class of opposition. Beaten a head last start over the AP mile, he was not too far away his previous 2 starts. Following through behind a good beginner, he can look to swoop to the prize. AWESOME OLLIE (8) was wide off the track from this same gate here 2 starts back when not shirking the task in grabbing the bronze behind the subsequent winner SHADYS DELIGHT. Not much worked went in his favour when down the line over 2138m last time out and freshened since that can look to bounce back. BUKTHSYSTEM (3) finished over the top of them here 3 starts back after overcoming a 2nd line gate to arrive on the wire for a half-head win. Placed his past 2, he will be right in the fight again in this. TICK OF THE CLOCK (2) was a Redcliffe winner 3 starts back when finding the front from gate 3, releasing and then making the closing shot a winner. His only 2 starts here have been from the stand and with early speed can fire the early shots.
SELECTIONS: NIFTY STUDEIGH (7), AWESOME OLLIE (8), BUKTHSYSTEM (3), TICK OF THE CLOCK (2) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FOUR ELIZABETHAN ERA (2) has been kept fresh since her last appearance when mid-field over the AP 2138m trip. That was a tidy effort after doing all the work in the run and still fighting hard behind the smart winner GOOD AS IT GETS. A smart winner over the AP mile 5 starts back, she can hustle off the arm and look to dictate. SHESFEELINPRECIOUS (1) resumes from a spell without the benefit of a public trial. With over a year since her last success, she was sent for a break after a last start 3rd in a Trot Rods 947m scamper. Within 6m of the winner FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT 3 starts back, she looks set for the soft trip. FORBIDDEN FEELINGS (4) sat back in the pack last start before working home in good order to grab the bronze behind FOUR STARZZZ FORSA. A tough winner 4 starts back, he might need to roll the sleeves. ANNAS BEST (3) kicked up to hold the front last start over the Redcliffe sprint trip and was in for the fight when nabbed late by CHANCELESS CENTURY. She can tuck in behind here to chime in late.
SELECTIONS: ELIZABETHAN ERA (2), SHESFEELINPRECIOUS (1), FORBIDDEN FEELINGS (4), ANNAS BEST (3) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-3-4
RACE FIVE
WESTERN SHOWGIRL (1) is in superb touch and has been well-placed as she looks to add to some impressive performances that have seen her win 5 of her past 6 starts. Powering home over the top last start at Redcliffe to cruise home to a big 14m victory, she will have the chance to look to take them all the way here. FOUR STARZZZ FORSA (8) lived up to his short quote at Albion Park on Tuesday when finding the front over the sprint trip and holding on to post a 6m margin. Fitter for the run after a 7-week gap and a crossing of the Nullarbor following his previous start, the gate will make it tough around the small track, but he is the class runner. VIEWBYTHEROCK (2) was 1st up from close to 12 months off the scenes when landing a tough 3rd here 3 starts back. That was a similar heat and final series and 2nd up over the 2138m in the Final, he was too strong in claiming victory from the breeze. He will be grinding it out again. DESPONDENT (6) looks set for the economical trip and will be probing for the openings in the stretch. 5m away in finishing 3rd last start from the pocket trail, he won’t be far away. SELECTIONS: WESTERN SHOWGIRL (1), FOUR STARZZZ FORSA (8), VIEWBYTHEROCK (2), DESPONDENT (6) SUGGESTED BET: WESTERN SHOWGIRL (1) to win
RACE SIX RANCHO MAN (1) has come up trumps at the marble drop, landing the ace over the sprint trip working right into his favour. An easy winner here 5 starts back when pouncing on the poles and leading throughout, he followed that with a placing from inside the 2nd line. Not too far away from wide gates at his past 3, he can dictate. SHADYS DELIGHT (3) is starting to furnish into a handy 3YO and lines up here with 2 wins in his past 4 starts and the narrowest of placings in one other. Making the closing shot a winning one last start after settling in the pocket trail at Redcliffe, finding early position will be key to his hopes. ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8) returns from a spell with the benefit of a nice trial in readiness. Not faring well from the barrier, he had been meeting stronger opponents prior to going for a break and has place claims. MISTER DECORUM (7) was runner-up last start when sent to the breeze from the 2nd line over the Redcliffe sprint trip and only falling 2m shy of victory. With a great record here at this track, he can chime in again.
SELECTIONS: RANCHO MAN (1), SHADYS DELIGHT (3), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8), MISTER DECORUM (7) SUGGESTED BET: RANCHO MAN (1) to win
RACE SEVEN
The last of the 5 competitive heats looks a strong contest where SCHEU CREEK (2) looks to get conditions to suit. Forget his last start effort over the AP mile, prior to that he had placed in 3 successive runs, including finishing runner-up here twice. Finding the front from gate 4 over the 220mm here 2 starts back, he was grabbed late by CALLMEDEMARO. He gets his chance. ALLSTAR SEA (1) started from inside the 2nd line last start over the AP mile when buried in the run and never really getting into the contest. Working home wide off the track the start prior at Redcliffe, he can get the easy trip here to look for the space to challenge. MAJOR LUCKY (4) steps out at Marburg for the 1st time after his past 2 have not gone to plan. A Redcliffe winner 5 starts back when finishing best, he can look to get in the action early here. IFYOUBELIEVE (8) has been in the money at 8 of 11 here at Marburg, 4 of those being victories. Gunned down last start after setting the tempo over the AP 2138m trip, he will be in the mix. SELECTIONS: SCHEU CREEK (2), ALLSTAR SEA (1), MAJOR LUCKY (4), IFYOUBELIEVE (8) SUGGESTED BET: SCHEU CREEK (2) to win
RACE EIGHT TAKITIMU EXPRESS (7) has been to the track 3 times since returning from a spell and should be further tightened from the latest effort. Settling in the pocket trail over the Redcliffe sprint trip, he was not too far away from the in-form winner HIPSTAR who ran some smart time around the triangle. With even luck in transit, he can arrive over the top in a tricky contest. ARTISTIC SAINT (8) set the tempo in the race claimed by HIPSTAR 2 starts back when fighting on to hold on for the bronze. Fading after a tough trip last start when sent to the breeze from the 2nd line over the 2040m trip at Redcliffe, he has the tough alley here but with even luck, this looks within reach. MISS MIA (2) was caught wide looking for position last start over the 1780m after pressing forward from gate 4 and then forced to retreat. A tidy run for 3rd under the circumstances, she can look to fire the 1st shot here. COBALT BLUES (4) settled back in the pack last start and was looking to make closing ground when chiming in late for 3rd, well back behind the winner CHANCELESS CENTURY. Finding position cheaply will be key to his hopes.
SELECTIONS: TAKITIMU EXPRESS (7), ARTISTIC SAINT (8), MISS MIA (2), COBALT BLUES (4) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE ELMAUR JOY (1) took the trail from the ace at Redcliffe 5 starts back and with a good tempo in front made the closing play up the passing lane, sticking her eyelashes out in time for the narrowest of wins. Not really suited since that win, she lands the gate to control the speed and gets her chance to dictate. GOTTA MOMENT (8) held on for the bronze 2 starts back when chasing through behind the big winner AT WEST POINT in a sizzling AP mile. Angled to the pegs last start, he was keen in the run when not too far from the winner COMMODORE JUJON. Despite the enforced wide gate, look for him issuing a challenge. LIVE ATOM (6) will be locked away on the poles here and hoping for a rub of the green at some point to find the space to issue some form of meaningful challenge. In a blanket finish her at his only run at the track, he will be probing. CIRCLE LINE (3) can look to turn around some disappointing efforts of late from this gate. A 2-time winner here at the track, he might need to roll the sleeves but can be in for the fight.
SELECTIONS: ELMAUR JOY (1), GOTTA MOMENT (8), LIVE ATOM (6), CIRCLE LINE (3) SUGGESTED BET: ELMAUR JOY (1) to win
