RACE TWO
Another typically tough claimer where WATTLEBANK FLYER (8) will be sweating on the 1 getting him to the passing lane with the required momentum. Working home wide off the track last start over the 2138m, he was best of the chaser when within 2m of the winner MARK DENNIS. If he hits the passing lane in time, this looks his to take. DYNAMIC BROMAC (2) drops to the claiming ranks searching for his 1st Qld victory. Doing his share of work last start when wide from gate 5 at Redcliffe, he could not get into the contest the start prior after sitting in behind the leader. With the improved alley, he can be close enough to challenge. ULTIMATE AD (6) was soon locked away after starting from inside the 2nd line last start when probing for late gaps to be 6m from the winner. Forced to race tough the start prior, he can be thereabouts again here. THREE MUGS IN (9) was a Redcliffe winner 3 starts back when finishing over the top of them after retreating from gate 5 in the early stages. Closing nicely last start when 3m away, he can be chiming in late in this. SELECTIONS: WATTLEBANK FLYER (8), DYNAMIC BROMAC (2), ULTIMATE AD (6), THREE MUGS IN (9) SUGGESTED BET: WATTLEBANK FLYER (8) to win
RACE THREE
Following two Heats of this Series last week, the best of the Heat winners looks the one to beat. That was MAJOR FERNCO (3) who was sent straight to the front to take control and keep the power on all the way when forging clear to claim a 24m victory in a strong closing half. Only 4m from the star ONE CHANGE the start prior, he can press forward again and looks a smart customer on the rise. OUR RIDGY DIDGE (2) was making a late dive in his heat to grab the bronze in a blanket finish when only a neck away. Grabbed late the start prior when trying to dictate over the Redcliffe sprint trip, he can look to get across 1st before taking cover and from there can be ready to take the last shot. SEAMARK (5) will take benefit from his 1st up outing in Qld when returning from a spell without a public trial. Forced to work hard outside MAJOR FERNCO, he can be chiming in when it gets busy. MOTU AMETHYST (10) was the other heat winner when making the most of the passing lane to make the closing shot a winning one. The gate is a real stinger, but if they go silly up front, she can descend on them late.
SELECTIONS: MAJOR FERNCO (3), OUR RIDGY DIDGE (2), SEAMARK (5), MOTU AMETHYST (10) SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR FERNCO (3) to win
RACE FOUR KEY LARGO (2) has speed out of the machine and comes up with the gate to look to fire the early shots. Forced to grind the mile outside IMASPORTSSTAR last start after moving forward from gate 7, he was in the fight when only 6m away. If he can pinch a panel in front here, he can see it out. BUMPER (5) was after a hat-trick last start when taking the trail from gate 1. Chasing valiantly, he could not pick up the leader and winner DAPPER, finishing just a neck away. Finishing over the top of them in successive outings at the 1660m at his previous 2, he can close hard off a solid tempo in this. PSYCHEDELIC (8) found the poles prior to releasing here on Tues and was the best of the chasers when 3m from the leader and winner PACIFIC DRUMS. Not suited from the breeze the start prior, he has early options as the lone 2nd line runner. IMASPORTSSTAR (3) made the most of his gate last start when finding the front and dictating to claim victory in a Band 5 event. A qualifying winner 3 starts back, he will throw it down in this.
SELECTIONS: KEY LARGO (2), BUMPER (5), PSYCHEDELIC (8), IMASPORTSSTAR (3) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE
TYPHOON STRIDE (1) started from inside the 2nd line last start in a qualifier over the 2138m and was soon under lock and key 4 back on the poles and facing a forlorn task. Weaving a passage, he never found the space to make a meaningful offering. Not much is going his way since arriving in Qld, but he looks to get his chance here. B MAC C (7) found the front prior to releasing over the 2138m last start in a qualifier. Starting fav in that event, he was 6m in arrears of the winner ARBIT MAJOR in finishing mid-field. Facing gate 7 at each of his previous 2 starts, he is on a terrible streak of barriers but should still be able to give this a shake. KINGOFTHESTARS (3) will strip fitter from his last outing when 1st up in Qld off a 7-week let-up. Working home wide off the track from the 2nd line at Marburg, it was a tidy run and the improved gate will assist here. ALI DOWNUNDER (8) was angled to the pegs from gate 10 last start looking for the short-cuts when mid-field behind NURBURGRING. Weaving a passage when attacking the line strongly the start prior, he can enjoy the soft ride here.
SELECTIONS: TYPHOON STRIDE (1), B MAC C (7), KINGOFTHESTARS (3), ALI DOWNUNDER (8) SUGGESTED BET: TYPHOON STRIDE (1) to win
RACE SIX LARRY LINCOLN (3) franked the effort of a preparatory trial when coming out to score a strong win 1st up in Qld after doing his share of early work to find the breeze. The form out of that race was franked with 1st and 2nd both subsequent winners. Left wanting 2nd up over the 2138m, there were excuses and fitter for that outing can bounce back. IL MAXIMUS (2) has returned from a spell in fine fettle and lines up in search of a hat-trick after successive Redcliffe victories. Holding on in front when 1st up, he put them away 2nd up when cruising home to a 15m winning margin over the 2040m trip. This is tougher but a threepeat is within reach. VENUS JUJON (7) faces the carpark draw but should find this easier than her 1st 2 runs back from a break. Closing hard to arrive for a 1st up win over the Redcliffe 2040m, she was then only 5m away from WITH THE BAND in a strong mares race. Podium claims from the wide gate. BRIGHTON PRINCE (1) showed no early hustle from gate 1 last start at Redcliffe and from the pocket trail was trying to make a late dive when only 1.5m from the winner. With another cosy trip he can chime in again.
SELECTIONS: LARRY LINCOLN (3), IL MAXIMUS (2), VENUS JUJON (7), BRIGHTON PRINCE (1) SUGGESTED BET: LARRY LINCOLN (3) to win
RACE SEVEN
GOSLING IN FLIGHT (5) was stretched out to take control of the Marburg to Albion Final last start and once in control could not see it out, fading to be 10m from the winner IMA BEACH BABE. Completing a hat-trick of victories the start prior, he can look to bounce back to form in this. BOULDER CITY (6) comes up with gate 6 for the 3rd outing in succession, the previous 2 coming when tackling the Redcliffe 2040m trip. Working home wide off the track last time after retreating early, he was 9m from the winner to claim the bronze. That had followed a similar trip and despite another tough gate is some hope again. FAST IS BETTOR (10) was sent to the breeze from gate 4 to sit outside the leader GOSLING IN FLIGHT last start before the white flag went up a long way from home. Her form prior had been good with 2 wins from her previous 3. Atonement can be delivered. ATOMIC BOMBSHELL (8) was banished to the trials last start for a sub-par effort after working hard before wilting. With a tidy trial to earn the return, she can get an easier trip to chime in from here.
SELECTIONS: GOSLING IN FLIGHT (5), BOULDER CITY (6), FAST IS BETTOR (10), ATOMIC BOMBSHELL (8) SUGGESTED BET: GOSLING IN FLIGHT (5) to win
