RACE TWO
ELLE JAY (3) was a winner here 5 starts back when sent straight to the front from gate 1 to dictate to an all the way victory. Down the line at her next 3, she appreciated the return to this surface when keeping them wide early and then cruising home to an 18m win. Hustling early to get across, she can look to repeat. GROOVY MISS ANNIE (8) was a Redcliffe winner 4 starts back when sent to the breeze from gate 5 and asked to toil for the prize. Runner-up in 2 starts since that win, both 2nd placed results have been behind ELLE JAY. Giving away the gate advantage again, she will have to chase. REDDY FIRE (7) will take benefit following his return to the track last start when 1st up from a spell. Sent through the pack early to pressure for the lead, he faded late. He has podium claims. STAR OF WONDER (1) has been around this track on 6 previous occasions for no return and although he doesn’t really appear to have winning claims, with the soft trip in behind, he can be included for the exotics. SELECTIONS: ELLE JAY (3), GROOVY MISS ANNIE (8), STAR OF WONDER (1), REDDY FIRE (7) SUGGESTED BET: ELLE JAY (3) to win
RACE THREE
The first of two Young Drivers Heats for the day can see COUNTRY RUN (2) find his way back to winning form. Fading from the pocket trail last start at Redcliffe, he was gunned down in the closing strides the start prior, beaten a head. Better when dictating, he looks to get every chance here. PAGO PAGO (7) held them out early here last week but after being eyeballed in the run, opted for cover with a lap to travel. Holding on for the bronze behind GOSLING IN FLIGHT it had followed a tidy effort behind ALBION ARK when 7m in arrears. With even luck in transit he can ask some questions late. MAGHERA MAGGIE (1) eased forward to do it the tough way outside the leader 2 runs back and held on for the silver over the Redcliffe 1780m. On the back-up from Friday night, she can chime in. ONYAJANS (6) was snagged back from gate 6 over the Redcliffe sprint trip last start and from back in the pack found the task out of reach. A tough winner 2 starts back, she can be probing here.
SELECTIONS: COUNTRY RUN (2), PAGO PAGO (7), MAGHERA MAGGIE (1), ONYAJANS (6) SUGGESTED BET: COUNTRY RUN (2) to win
RACE FOUR SHEZALUCKYLADY (7) steps out in Qld for the 1st time and arrives a two-time career winner. Placed in 3 of her past 5 starts, she eased early prior to working home soundly to grab the bronze at Wagga over the 1740m trip at he most recent start. With even luck off the 2nd line, she can arrive. ALWAYS AT NIGHT (2) is on the back-up from Friday night where he was meeting a slightly stronger line-up than he squares off against here. Buried in the run 2 starts back, he was down the line behind MAJOR LUCKY at Redcliffe. Settling close to the action can see him challenge against these. BAMBOLE NERE (8) has landed 2 of her 3 career wins here at Marburg and despite being banished to the ODM position. Too far back when retreating last start, she can chime in late in this line-up. MERRYWOOD PEARL (3) has been down the line in recent outings as she approaches 12 months since her last victory. That drought probably is not broken here, but from the gate she can place.
SELECTIONS: SHEZALUCKYLADY (7), ALWAYS AT NIGHT (2), BAMBOLE NERE (8), MERRYWOOD PEARL (3) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE
ALL GOOD WALLY (7) was locked away from inside the 2nd line here last week and with GOSLING IN FLIGHT dictating in front, was searching for gaps that did not arrive. Asked to do it the tough way 2 starts back when fading behind subsequent winner MOLLYS SECRET, the gate is a stinger but he looks to have the edge to overcome them in this. CANNAN (2) is on the quick back-up after engaged to contest the Marburg to Albion Final on Saturday night. Runner-up in his heat of that Series when sent around them early to face the breeze and grinding hard for the silver, provided he takes no ill-effect from the quick turnaround, he can throw it down here. RAYONG PRINCESS (1) was a Redcliffe winner when taking them all the way 4 starts back in scoring a narrow victory. Forced to work hard when the runner-up 2 starts back, she has the options to feature. NESTERS HILL (6) returns from a break and will be requiring some luck to find gaps to issue a challenge. An all the way winner at Redcliffe 2 starts back, he will be probing for openings.
SELECTIONS: ALL GOOD WALLY (7), CANNAN (2), RAYONG PRINCESS (1), NESTERS HILL (6) SUGGESTED BET: ALL GOOD WALLY (7) to win
RACE SIX BURMACH (2) did some early work last start prior to receiving cover but could no go with them in the closing stages when down the line behind LA PLAYER. Placed his previous 3 in succession, the latest when 2m from LORIMER LADY after racing on the pegs from the 2nd line. He will need to hustle early, but if able to touch down in front, can fight them off. ADRENALINE RUSH (4) was 1st up from a break to make a winning start in Qld when arriving in the closing strides here last week. Angled away from the pegs early to find the running line, she finished best to gun down the leader DONNY JONES. That completed a hat-trick of victories and despite giving away plenty of experience to her rivals, she can challenge once again. BEEF CITY BLAZE (1) landed this gate 4 starts back when beaten for early speed, he was content for the trail. Finding the space to get clear, he was able to make the closing shot a winner for the narrowest of victories. 9m from the winner ALE ALE KAI here last start, the start is all important. MAJORDOIT (3) will be 1st up from a spell and has opened the pipes with a recent trial at AP. With 2 wins in 4 outings here at Marburg, he can be thereabouts in this.
SELECTIONS: BURMACH (2), ADRENALINE RUSH (4), BEEF CITY BLAZE (1), MAJORDOIT (3) SUGGESTED BET: BURMACH (2) to win
RACE SEVEN
SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (1) backs up from Friday night where he was tackling a claiming event. Asked to do it the tough way at Redcliffe 2 starts back, he was in for the fight, only fading in the closing stages to be 6m from the winner IMA TOP TYCOON. The gate is a huge plus and holding them out can look to take them all the way. LEXUS ON THE BEACH (4) is also on the back-up out of the same race as the 1 as he takes his 1st look at the Marburg surface. Mid-field 2 starts back at Redcliffe when he did not receive the smoothest run in transit when returning after a 6-week freshen. Taking further benefit from Friday, he can ask some questions in this.
KURAHAUPO GAMBLER (6) was buried away last start and chasing in vain as the leader and winner, DAPPER, dictated over the AP 2138m last time out. Luckless the start prior when probing for gaps and hitting the line in smart individual splits, he will again be probing for openings in this. KARLOO MAC (3) had to do it the tough way last start when facing the breeze over the longer 2200m trip. The run took its toll and had followed an 8m margin via the passing lane behind THREE MUGS IN. Settling handy he has podium claims.
SELECTIONS: SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (1), LEXUS ON THE BEACH (4), KURAHAUPO GAMBLER (6), KARLOO MAC (3) SUGGESTED BET: SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (1) to win
RACE EIGHT MAFFIOSO GIRL (1) eased from the wide gate here last start prior to hitting the line strongly when 6m from the winner JEWEL OF PEAK. Fading at Redcliffe 2 starts back in a strong mares qualifier, she can capitalise on the gate here and from the front can look to turn the tables on the main danger. JEWEL OF PEAK (3) returned from a spell in fine fettle when pressing forward from gate 2 to wrestle away the lead. Once in control she was never in danger to cruise home in claiming a strong 5m victory. A winner at 4 from 6 here at The Burg, she can have an early look in throwing down a challenge. DONT CALL ME (6) resumes from a freshen after a last start 3rd here to IDEAL TIGER. With a cosy trip in behind the speed, he will be needing a slice of luck and be searching for openings in the stretch. NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (4) did some early work to get forward before finding cover over the Redcliffe 2040m last start when in the mix to be 11m from the winner LA PLAYER. Tough in the breeze here 4 starts back behind IDEAL TIGER, she can feature.
SELECTIONS: MAFFIOSO GIRL (1), JEWEL OF PEAK (3), DONT CALL ME (6), NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (4) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-6
