RACE TWO
WEDDING NIGHT (4) has placed at her past 2 starts as she searches for the elusive maiden breaking victory. Locked away from inside the 2nd line last start, she was hitting the line in fine style when 1m from the winner SHEREACTS. Only 3m away the start prior, she finds the race to really throw it down. ASHTON RIVER (7) made an error last start before pressing forward until cover arrived over the 2040m trip. After claiming the 1x1 trail, he was only 3m in arrears of the winner. With a slice of luck from this alley, he can feature. BERTILS WATCH ME (6) will strip fitter from his latest outing when returning from a break. Starting from gate 1 he has buried away before trying to make late metres down the centre of the track. The gate is not ideal, but he can improve. GAME KEEPER (1) returns after being banished to the trials last start when making an error back on December 24. With the benefit of the good alley, he is a chance for the exotics if able to maintain gait. SELECTIONS: WEDDING NIGHT (4), ASHTON RIVER (7), BERTILS WATCH ME (6), GAME KEEPER (1) SUGGESTED BET: WEDDING NIGHT (4) to win
RACE THREE TURN TURN FLYER (5) tried to capitalise from gate 1 over the AP mile 4 starts back but from the front could not se it out. Charging home for a narrow victory at his next outing, he was locked away and never saw the space until the race was gone last time. Despite the gate, this looks wide open. MAYWYNS HONEY (4) settled in the running line from a 2nd line barrier last start but could not go on with it in the closing stages. Beaten by a wide gate the start prior when retreating to secure position, the run previous was a tidy effort under the circumstances from a wide gate. With even luck, she is in the fight. TACTFILLY MIRACLE (6) eased from gate 5 last start to find the pegs and then probing for short-cuts did not find the space when it was needed. The wide gate dampens her chances again, but she is still a podium hope. MUSTANG DUDE (3) was angled to the pegs from gate 9 last start when looking for some short-cuts and luck with neither working in his favour. Settling closer from this alley, he can be chiming in.
SELECTIONS: TURN TURN FLYER (5), MAYWYNS HONEY (4), TACTFILLY MIRACLE (6), MUSTANG DUDE (3) SUGGESTED BET: TURN TURN FLYER (5) to win
RACE FOUR BERTILS FIREFOX (2) looked to make the most of gate 1 here 2 starts back and setting the tempo out in front was only grabbed in the closing stages by LITTLE ARROWS but was able to hold on for the silver. Gunned down last start in front, he strikes a winnable contest here and can look to see it out. TRUMP EM BABE (8) will take good benefit from her latest start when returning from a spell. Eased to the rear from gate 4, she followed them home and although it was a big margin, this looks a more suitable assignment. With the right trail through early, she can be an improver. GLENCOE REIGN (3) backs up from Tuesday at Albion Park where he landed a 2nd line gate and looked a place prospect. Fading after a tough trip there 2 starts back, he has claims from this alley. GHOST GUM (7) will be requiring a slice of luck from this alley as he looks in danger of being locked away. Closing strongly last start when 8m from the winner, he will be probing for open road. SELECTIONS: BERTILS FIREFOX (2), TRUMP EM BABE (8), GLENCOE REIGN (3), GHOST GUM (7) SUGGESTED BET: BERTILS FIREFOX (2) to win
RACE FIVE PATCHWORK JET (9) will take some benefit from his return to the track last start when 1st up from a break. Releasing the speed from gate 1, he was left flat at the 600m and could not see it out. His preparatory trial was a tidy effort and returning to the mile here, he strikes a race where he gets the chance to atone. ELZBOY (5) trailed them in last start at headquarters after securing a nice run throughout but could not finish it off. Mid-field the start prior as SCOTCH EN ICE arrived for a smart win, the gate stings but the return to The Triangle is in his favour and he can look to issue a challenge in this line-up. CHEYENNE AUTUMN (3) has placed in 3 of her past 4 starts, the latest when within 5m of the winner STUDLEIGH WILL. Closing in good order for the silver here 3 starts back, she can chime in. ITS YOU NOT ME (1) found it out of reach last start from gate 3 over the AP mile and with the good alley back to Redcliffe should appreciate conditions. With early options he is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: PATCHWORK JET (9), ELZBOY (5), CHEYENNE AUTUMN (3), ITS YOU NOT ME (1) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX SIR BULSKI (1) was sent to the post as fav last start over the AP mile and after landing in the pocket trail from gate 2, tried to land the winning blow via the passing lane. Within a neck of victory, it had followed a tough run from the breeze and with all the options from this gate, this looks his to lose. MAC SWEENEY (5) has faced the starter on 3 occasions since returning from a spell and been able to finish in 2nd placing at his past 2 in succession. Obliged to work hard last start, he did not shirk the task and was giving all the way to the wire when beaten a half-neck. With added fitness, he can challenge in this. KAY NORA SHANNON (8) eased to take the 1x1 trail here last start over the 2040m and making her run at the exact time was able to arrive for a narrow victory. Fighting hard the start prior, she is in the mix. ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (7) has been the runner-up in 2 of his past 3 starts, the latest when best of the chasers behind the easy winner MAKINMEFEELGOOD. With the easy trip he can chime in here. SELECTIONS: SIR BULSKI (1), MAC SWEENEY (5), KAY NORA SHANNON (8), ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (7) SUGGESTED BET: SIR BULSKI (1) to win
RACE SEVEN LITTLE ARROWS (1) was not suited last start when tackling a much stronger race over the AP mile and she faded with the speed on. A winner from gate 5 here 2 starts back when eased to the pegs before finding the gaps to claim the cash, she lands all the options from this gate to bounce back. LOVE YOUR WORK (6) has no favours from this gate, but he has returned for his 3YO term in nice order. Tough from the breeze when 2nd up, he was in for the fight when only 1.5m from the winner ONYAJANS. Sent around the field early last start, he was too strong in claiming victory and while he might have to roll the sleeves again, he looks up to the task. COUNTRY RUN (7) made the most of gate 2 here 2 starts back at the 2040m distance when firing off the arm, taking control and leading throughout. Fading late here last start, he will be probing for openings. ONYAJANS (9) has been in nice touch in recent outings, finishing as the runner-up at 2 of her past 3 starts and winning the other. Only beaten an eyelash last start from this same gate, she will be closing out strongly. SELECTIONS: LITTLE ARROWS (1), LOVE YOUR WORK (6), COUNTRY RUN (7), ONYAJANS (9) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-6-7-9
RACE EIGHT HOT EMBERS (2) has placed at his past 2 starts, the latest when forced to work hard in the run and grinding it out to hold on for the bronze over the AP mile. Only 5m in arrears of TEARAWAY DIAMOND 2 starts back, he has early speed to call on here and looks to get every chance for a breakthrough victory. MAFFIOSO GIRL (4) was working home wide off the track last start over the sprint trip after retreating from gate 6 in the early stages. That followed a handy 3rd behind HELLO ITS ME over the AP 2138m after securing a nice run in behind the speed. With even luck from this alley, she can feature. TOANUI SPIRIT (3) had placed in successive runs leading into her run here 2 starts back and despite a tough trip she was able to flex her muscle to score. Hitting the line in nice order last start from the 2nd line, she cannot be ignored in this. KATACHA MAN (5) steps out in Qld for the 1st time, joining the Donny Smith barn, his 4th trainer after 14 race starts. The tempo made it tough for the chasers last start at Shepparton and from the wide gate he stays under notice. SELECTIONS: HOT EMBERS (2), MAFFIOSO GIRL (4), TOANUI SPIRIT (3), KATACHA MAN (5) SUGGESTED BET: HOT EMBERS (2) to win
RACE NINE ALE ALE KAI (8) started from gate 9 here 2 runs back and saved for a closing charge, was attacking the line strongly in the latter stages to be 1.5m from the winner OHOKA JIMMY. Locked away on the pegs last start in a strong Saturday night event, when the gap arrived it was a tidy effort behind PARAVANI. With some front-line tempo, she can descend upon them. ONLY IN ROME (1) was searching for gaps here last start that did not arrive when finishing in behind them and still only 5m in arrears of the winner. Looking to take them all the way over the 2040m trip here 2 starts back, he was grabbed in the closing strides when beaten a half-head. From the gate he can challenge. IMFEELINGIT (3) is a newcomer to Qld, joining the Ricky Thurlow barn and arrives 1st up from a break. Given a local trial at The Creek in readiness, it was a sound effort and if he handles The Triangle, he can feature fresh. MONTEREY JACK (7) eased from gate 4 last start and was eventually positioned along the inside when trying to chime in late. Strong to the line here 4 runs back, he will be probing for the gaps. SELECTIONS: ALE ALE KAI (8), ONLY IN ROME (1), IMFEELINGIT (3), MONTEREY JACK (7) SUGGESTED BET: ALE ALE KAI (8) to win
RACE TEN CAPTAIN THUNDERBOLT (2) was strong to the line when 1st up from a break for the new stable over the AP mile 2 starts back when within 4m of the winner. Sent forward early from gate 5 last time out, he was asked to race tough first over and was still giving when holding 2nd. Back to an improved alley, he looks to get every chance. THE CASUAL GOOSE (9) started from gate 4 last start when retreating early before making a strong closing challenge to grab the silver when within 2m of the winner. Forced to work hard the start prior in a stronger contest, the gate is not ideal but with even luck he can make a challenge here. NON PASSARE (4) started from the 2nd line last start and never really got into the contest in the closing stages. Trying to work home from back in the pack the start prior, he is a podium chance. BIG GEM MONTANA (8) made a mess of the start 3 runs back when never in the race and has been banished to the ODM tag in 2 runs since. Back to the main draw albeit off the 2nd line, he can feature. SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN THUNDERBOLT (2), THE CASUAL GOOSE (9), NON PASSARE (4), BIG GEM MONTANA (8) SUGGESTED BET:
