RACE TWO
ONE NIGHT OUT (1) looks pitch-forked into this contest under the conditions from the front tape. Coming from 20m through the recent feature series. Runner-up in the first heat behind UNKNOWN SON, he made an error in the 2nd round when looking to wind up. He made another costly error last start, but if trotting cleanly, looks hard to stop. ORLANDO JOLT (7) was looking to sweep the McNeil Series after winning both heats in impressive order from the 20m tape. Safely into stride in the Final, he looked to be in a perfect position, but UNKNOWN SON had all the answers out in front in scoring. Back to this grade and from the 20m, he can throw it down. DOUG (9) will take some benefit from his latest outing when returning from a spell, albeit kept fresh since that return. Closing out strongly from a 30m tape to be just 5m from ALADDIN SANE, he can be working home hard. KRAZE (4) was gallant in defeat when a neck away from VAN SANK in the 2nd round of the McNeil. Right in the market in the Final, he made a mess of the start and was never in the hunt. He can search for redemption. SELECTIONS: ONE NIGHT OUT (1), ORLANDO JOLT (7), DOUG (9), KRAZE (4) SUGGESTED BET: ONE NIGHT OUT (1) to win
RACE THREE STINGER LINDENNY (1) was sent forward from gate 5 last start to take control and once in front was trying to fight them all off when grabbed in the closing strides by SAVING MAJOR PERCY. Only 4m away the start prior after a tidy effort from gate 7, he gets every chance to take this from the good gate. SWEET AS (6) continues to race well without threatening a victory, attacking the line strongly at the end of her races. Buried away 3 back on the poles last start, she was trying to wind up when 7m from the winner OHOKA JIMMY. Only 5m from that same in-form pacer 3 starts back, she can be charging late here. TEARAWAY DIAMOND (3) was shooting for a hat-trick here 3 starts back when pressing on to take control from gate 4 but unable to fight them off late, only beaten 2m. Only a half-neck away 2 starts back, he is in the mix. GASMONKEY (2) will have 1st choice of the pocket trail if they want to take it, but he has previously shown he does not do his best work from there. It is however a nice improvement after some wide gates and he can chime in. SELECTIONS: STINGER LINDENNY (1), SWEET AS (6), TEARAWAY DIAMOND (3), GASMONKEY (2) SUGGESTED BET: STINGER LINDENNY (1) to win
RACE FOUR CHASING GREAT (9) should appreciate the return to this grade of contest after coming through the McNeil Series. Placed 4th in both heat rounds, he was buried in the run in the Final and never really had a crack at them as UNKNOWN SON controlled it in front. A previous winner here from the mobile, he can overcome the 2nd line in this contest. DOWN UNDER RORS (1) was locked away in the McNeil Final and doing his best to make late metres when 5th behind UNKNOWN SON. He struck trouble in the 2nd round of heats that ended his chances after holding on for the bronze in the 1st round. From the inside, he will have the options to make his challenge. GREAT FANTASY (3) is the query runner, making his Aus debut for Nathan Dawson. Last seen at Cambridge back in November, he has not had a public trial to prepare. With 2 placings in 9 attempts from the mobile, he stays under watch. MAJESTIC SPEED (10) was 1st up in Qld last time out and after beginning safely from the tapes was strong to the line when 3m in arrears of the winner. Still a maiden, he can be joining in late. SELECTIONS: CHASING GREAT (9), DOWN UNDER RORS (1), GREAT FANTASY (3), MAJESTIC SPEED (10) SUGGESTED BET: CHASING GREAT (9) to win
RACE FIVE This is a tricky little race not helped by the fact that the field brings a combined 159 starts here at The Creek for just 2 wins to the deliberations. ELLE JAY (2) has 3 placings in her 11 attempts at the track, the latest when grabbed in the closing stages after setting the tempo. Within 3m of the winner on that occasion, she can be looking to grip on here. GUTS (9) was angled to the pegs last start in the Marburg to Albion Final and despite the easy trip and the win coming from the pocket trail- one spot in front of his position- he could not go on with it. In for the fight here 3 runs back, he might just hold the winning ticket in this raffle. WAVEDANCER (10) is the holder of one of those AP victories but faces a tricky gate if he is to add to the total. Fading after working hard in the run last start, he had placed in 3 of his previous 4. A GOOD IDEAL (1) is on the back-up from Wed night at Redcliffe where he looked a podium hope from gate 3 in an even contest. Working hard in the run 2 starts back at Newcastle, the gate is a big plus here.
SELECTIONS: ELLE JAY (2), GUTS (9), WAVEDANCER (10), A GOOD IDEAL (1) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX COUNTRY RUN (1) was an all the way winner at Redcliffe 4 starts back when pouncing on the poles from gate 2 and after a steady opening half was able to hold on for victory. He comes up with the right gate, but there is a nagging concern that he is winless after 12 attempts here at The Creek. He gets every chance to rectify that here. KETTERING GIRL (4) was asked to roll the sleeves from this gate last time out when sent forward to race first over. In for the fight, she clung on to claim the bronze when 2m in arrears of the winner SWEET APPEAL. Only a half-neck away 3 starts back, she can be throwing it down again here. THE CASUAL GOOSE (8) has faced the 2nd line at his past 2 in succession, the latest when closing out strongly to get within a half-neck of the winner. With the economical trip, he can feature here. BILLBOARD BONNIE (9) will strip fitter from her latest start when returning from a spell. Staying out of an early pace duel, she was able to finish mid-field and with even luck is a place prospect in this. SELECTIONS: COUNTRY RUN (1), KETTERING GIRL (4), THE CASUAL GOOSE (8), BILLBOARD BONNIE (9) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-4-8-9
RACE SEVEN SCOTCH EN ICE (2) was best of the chasing pack as DANCE IN THE SUN controlled it in front here 2 runs back in a nice effort. Taking advantage of gate 1 last start, he had held them wide and kept the power on to claim a 5m victory in a new career PB 54.5 mile. Settling close to the action, he can go back-to-back. SWEET APPEAL (1) started from gate 9 here last time out and settling in the running line was able to show good closing speed to arrive for a tidy victory- her 1st since arriving in Qld. Gunned down when trying to lead throughout here 3 runs back, she can take cover here and be ready to take the closing shot. MONTANA LAD (6) was angled to the pegs last start at Redcliffe from the 2nd line when trying to find space, finishing 6m in arrears of the winner. Despite the wider gate, he can be making a podium play. ROYAL OBSESSION (7) showed no early hustle last start from gate 2 and was soon shuffled back in the running line before powering home over the top to grab 3rd. The gate stings but he can be joining in through the latter stages. SELECTIONS: SCOTCH EN ICE (2), SWEET APPEAL (1), MONTANA LAD (6), ROYAL OBSESSION (7) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE EIGHT LITTLELIONELJAMES (5) was sent to the post as fav here last time out from gate 4 with the lamp lighting rights coming at the cost of a sub 27 opener. With a 2nd panel breather, he was fighting gamely and only went under a half-head. If he can get the leaders role cheaper this week, he will take some catching. SAVING MAJOR PERCY (10) was 2nd up in Qld last start when tackling the mile from gate 4. Powering off the arm before releasing for the trail, the passing lane was his friend when darting along the inside to score. Only beaten a neck at his 1st appearance in the Sunshine State, he can challenge. CHEESANDKISSES (2) was working home soundly here 2 starts back to grab the silver behind GOPATI and then last start found them too sharp as TALENT TO SPARE dictated. Settling handy she can feature. KIAMASROSIE (8) has hit the board in 4 of her past 5 starts including a win when finishing over the top of them here at the mile. Chasing for 3rd behind ISLAS JOY last start, she will be probing for gaps. SELECTIONS: LITTLELIONELJAMES (5), SAVING MAJOR PERCY (10), CHEESANDKISSES (2), KIAMASROSIE (8) SUGGESTED BET: LITTLELIONELJAMES (5) to win
RACE NINE TIZ A SIZZLER (8) will need some luck from this alley and getting off the pegs early looks his best chance of making a play. Shooting for a hat-trick of wins this campaign last time out, he was sent forward to the breeze, but the in-form FRANCO HAMPTON was too slick in front. It looks a task, but he can rise to the challenge. NIMAH FRANCO (2) claimed a mares qualifier 2 runs back after settling in the running line from gate 10 and then having too much power in the stretch to claim the prize. Closing hard here last start at the mile, she copped the backwash of a scrimmage when she was winding up. Early speed helps her chance to challenge. SO KOOL MASTER (1) features in a stable switch and lines up for Matt Elkins for the 1st time. Attacking the line strongly last start for the bronze behind LARRY LINCOLN, the gate is a big plus. SQUIRE (4) was wide off the track after starting from the six-hole last time out at Redcliffe but continued to give when only 2m in arrears of the winner. He can do some work and is a podium hope. SELECTIONS: TIZ A SIZZLER (8), NIMAH FRANCO (2), SO KOOL MASTER (1), SQUIRE (4) SUGGESTED BET:
