RACE TWO
The first of two small APG heats for the boys, where the lightly raced PARATROUPER (2) might be able to capitalise. Returning from a long break to take them all the way in easy fashion at Redcliffe last start off the back of a tidy trial. He has the gate to settle in a froward spot early and fitter from the return effort might just be the one. CHAMONIX (6) comes into the contest without a public trial as he returns from a spell. Last seen back in December when runner-up to MANILA PLAYBOY, it followed a 13m margin behind FRONTLINER here at the mile. In the money at 9 of 15, including 3 wins as a 2YO, he is in the mix. LOVE YOUR WORK (3) was a Redcliffe winner 4 runs back and followed that with successive placings here at The Creek. Best of the rest behind TALENT TO SPARE 2 runs back, he is right in the fight in this. SELECTIONS: PARATROUPER (2), CHAMONIX (6), LOVE YOUR WORK (3) SUGGESTED BET: PARATROUPER (2) to win
RACE THREE FRONTLINER (2) looked to have found his race last start from gate 1 and with the perfect run in behind the speed, was unable to find the speed to arrive. Settling with the bronze as ROCKS OR DIAMONDS took them all the way, it followed a sound effort 1st up. With added fitness, he can open his 3YO term here. HES SWEET (5) returns to the scene of his biggest triumph, after winning the 2020 Brisbane APG G1 Final. Winless in 6 starts this season, he joins the Frisby stable for his Northern raid and was tuned up with a tidy 3rd at Bathurst last Wednesday. The gate stings but a strong showing is expected.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1) went to Redcliffe last start and from gate 4 was required to work in the run when finishing 8m in arrears of the smart SHES MISS DEVINE. Leading early before being headed off at the bell over the mile here 2 runs back, back to his own age off this gate is a big plus. SELECTIONS: FRONTLINER (2), HES SWEET (5), AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1) SUGGESTED BET: FRONTLINER (2) to win
RACE FOUR Returning from a spell from a tricky gate, JASPER (8) will have the 2nd line options in the early stages to deploy. Last seen back in December when a beaten fav behind FRONTLINER, her 2YO term netted 4 wins and 6 minors in her 11 outings, including a G1 victory. Not asked for much in a preparatory trial, she can be too classy in this. LILLIES (3) eased from gate 5 last time out to secure position before working home in fine style to be within 2m of the winner in a blanket finish. Finding TALENT TO SPARE a little too slippery in front the start prior when 1st up from a freshen, she should appreciate conditions here to challenge. AUNTY BELLA (7) is a two-time winner here last season including the Triad consolation. One of the first arrivals for the 2021 Chris Frisby led southern raid, she was strong to the line last start behind the smart SAINT JULIEN at Bathurst and is in the mix here. DANCINTOTHEBEAT (4) will strip fitter from her return to the track last start when gate 10 made it tough as ROCKS OR DIAMONDS controlled it in front. Back to fillies only will suit and she can be sharper. SELECTIONS: JASPER (8), LILLIES (3), AUNTY BELLA (7), DANCINTOTHEBEAT (4) SUGGESTED BET: JASPER (8) to win
RACE FIVE CAT KING COLE (1) eased from gate 3 here last week when making her debut outing and from the pegs was searching for gaps that did not arrive when required. Forced to look inside and out, it was a tidy effort. The options present from this gate and with the added experience can open her account. JUDGE JUJON (6) eased from gate 5 here last time out to secure position and from back in the pack was rattling home in the closing stages to grab the silver behind LEAP TO FAME. Luckless on debut from a wide gate, he has another tough alley but can be swooping late again here. TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (8) has finished in 3rd at both starts, the latest when 6m from LEAP TO FAME. A beaten fav on debut from inside the 2nd line, he will again be probing the gaps to make a play. TIMS A TROOPER (5) is a Tintin In America colt on debut for Grant Dixon out of Elizabeth Kelly- hailing from one of the strongest maternal families in the studbook. Doing everything right in a qualifying trial, he stays under notice. SELECTIONS: CAT KING COLE (1), JUDGE JUJON (6), TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (8), TIMS A TROOPER (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX GROOVY MISS ANNIE (1) broke through to claim her 1st win here at The Creek after 21 attempts recently and lands the gate to look to add her 2nd. Too strong for them last start at Redcliffe when sent to the breeze from gate 5, she comes up with the options here and looks to get every chance. DELIGHTFUL REASON (3) started fav last start but could not find position from gate 4 and was forced to retreat to the rear and from there was never in the contest. Runner-up the start prior when working hard in the run, she arrived in nice style here 3 starts back and will throw it down in this. AFTER DARN (4) went back-to-back at Redcliffe and followed that with a 2nd to ROCKNROLL DA GAMA. Beaten by tough gates at Marburg her past 2 starts, she can bounce back here to feature. LANCELOT BROMAC (10) lands another 2nd line gate but if the tempo is right, he can be working into the battle. Not suited last start against the poles, he as a strong 3rd here 2 back and is in the mix. SELECTIONS: GROOVY MISS ANNIE (1), DELIGHTFUL REASON (3), AFTER DARN (4), LANCELOT BROMAC (10) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-10
RACE SEVEN This looks an even contest with some in-form pacers to do battle where tempo and position will be key. Although facing a tough gate SCOTCH EN ICE (6) should appreciate some early heat being generated here. Charging home last start for a narrow 2nd, he can go one better this week. COPPICE (2) is never far from the action and has been in the money at his past 6 in succession. Claiming a standing start victory at Marburg 2 runs back, he was then 2nd in the big Goldstrike Final behind GLENEAGLE WARRIOR. He will be at the pointy end and trying to fight them off in this. CHAINLINC (4) settled forward here 3 starts back before finishing best to claim a maiden breaking win. Runner-up in both runs since, the latest when not receiving the smoothest passage, he is in the mix. MY CHINA DOLL (1) was searching for a hat-trick of victories here last start when unable to secure position and forced to retreat. With the benefit of the gate, she has podium claims here. SELECTIONS: SCOTCH EN ICE (6), COPPICE (2), CHAINLINC (4), MY CHINA DOLL (1) SUGGESTED BET: SCOTCH EN ICE (6) to win
RACE EIGHT ALE ALE KAI (12) worked home from a 3m handicap at Marburg 2 starts back and was strong to the line to be 3m in arrears of the winner. Looking to take them all the way from gate 1 here on Friday, she held on for the bronze after setting a strong closing half. In nice touch at present, she can arrive. IDEAL TIGER (1) was returning from a let-up last time out when starting from the 2nd line at Marburg. Making a challenge in the closing stages, he held on for the silver. 6m away here 2 starts back, he can settle with an economical trip and be ready to make a challenge. MORESCO (6) settled back in the pack from the 2nd line here last start over this trip and when asked for the effort, charged home in the closing stages to arrive. Grabbed in the last strides the start prior, she can chime in here. JINGLES BROMAC (9) started from inside the 2nd line last start but was soon into the running line and settling back in the pack was able to finish over the top of them to claim his 5th win in 8 appearances. He can feature again here. SELECTIONS: ALE ALE KAI (12), IDEAL TIGER (1), MORESCO (6), JINGLES BROMAC (9) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE
LEFT A TERROR (1) tackled a Saturday night event here 3 runs back from this gate over the 2138m and releasing the speed then took the closing shot to be a lip shy of the winner. Only 5m from OUR MADIBA at his next run, the form was franked when proving too tough from the breeze last time. He gets every chance to go back-to-back. HENRY HU (7) will strip fitter after his return run here last week which had followed a two-start campaign back in December. Chasing off the 2nd line to find the wire soundly here last time, he is a talented type when right but has been plagued with some issues. Despite the gate, he can challenge. GOLIGHTLY (4) is in search of a hat-trick of victories after a 2nd line win here at the mile was followed with a dominant win at Marburg. Working home wide off the track, he has the benefit of the front-line alley here to make his play. HAVING THE FAITH (3) will be further tightened from his latest outing when 2nd up from a break. Settling in the running line from his 2nd line alley, he held 3rd behind LEFT A TERROR and can feature again. SELECTIONS: LEFT A TERROR (1), HENRY HU (7), GOLIGHTLY (4), HAVING THE FAITH (3) SUGGESTED BET: LEFT A TERROR (1) to win
