RACE TWO
MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (4) eased from gate 7 here last start to slot into the running line when finishing midfield. 2 starts back he released the front after working across from gate 4 and then taking the closing shot was a head from the winner HES SWEET. Fitter again after 3 runs back, he gets his chance. GLENLEDI COMMANDER (8) should be continuing to build a solid fitness base after an interrupted return to racing after two years off the scene. Forced to do it the tough way from the breeze last start, he was fighting hard when 2nd behind FRANCO NATHAN. With the 2nd line options he can challenge. MISTERY ROAD (6) will take benefit from his last start at Bathurst when resuming from 12 months on the sidelines. A tidy effort from a wide gate in that event, he was 3rd here in the 2019 2YO Triad behind EXPENSIVE EGO and GOVERNOR JUJON. He should improve with the added fitness. RAINBOW JET (5) was resuming from a spell here last start when chiming in late for the bronze behind FRANCO NATHAN. Fitter for that effort, he can be thereabouts again here. SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (4), GLENLEDI COMMANDER (8), MISTERY ROAD (6), RAINBOW JET (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE THREE RAANI (1) started fav last time out at Redcliffe from gate 3 and after being repelled for the lamp lighting duties was forced to grind it out from the breeze. In for the fight, it was only the finishing surge of ROCKS OR DIAMONDS that was able to get by. Hitting the line strongly in both starts here at The Creek, the gate gives her every chance. ATOMIC BOMBSHELL (4) started from gate 1 last start and was content to look for cover in the run. With the cosy trip in behind the speed, when angled into space she was able to sprint sharply to charge over the top of them to score. Runner-up 2 starts back from the trail; she can challenge again. SHEZ ALL STYLE (2) started from the 2nd line last start at the mile when wide off the track and hitting the line smartly for the bronze behind DELIGHTFUL REASON. The improved gate is a big plus here. BETTOR SPORT (9) was stuck on the pegs from inside the 2nd line last time out when grabbing 3rd behind ITS MR CLOONEY. Too far back behind the tempo when resuming from a spell 2 runs back, he can join in here. SELECTIONS: RAANI (1), ATOMIC BOMBSHELL (4), SHEZ ALL STYLE (2), BETTOR SPORT (9) SUGGESTED BET: RAANI (1) to win
RACE FOUR DANCE IN THE SUN (1) will take good benefit from her run here last week where she was resuming from a break without a preparatory trial. Working around the field from the 2nd line to take control, she ran out of steam in the closing stages, holding on for the silver. From the gate and with the added fitness, she looks too sharp in front. MY ULTIMATE BONDI (8) started from this alley last start and with the perfect trip in behind the speed held on for the silver behind the talented CHAMONIX. A wide gate stung him the start prior behind ADAM CROCKER and with a return to the cosy trip here, can make a closing play. ITZ MAJOR RICH (5) has been kept fresh since his last appearance after a tough trip in the breeze saw him fade to the rear. Too sharp in front the start prior, he can be thereabouts in this. LOVE YOUR WORK (9) tackled a 3YO APG heat 2 starts back and after working hard in the run was able to hold on for a narrow win. Beaten by the gate when closing smartly at his next start, he has podium claims once again. SELECTIONS: DANCE IN THE SUN (1), MY ULTIMATE BONDI (8), ITZ MAJOR RICH (5), LOVE YOUR WORK (9) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1 / 5-8-9
RACE FIVE COPPICE (10) started from inside the 2nd line last start at the mile and was soon pegged away. Making closing ground to be 5m from the winner, it followed a down the line return behind the star MANILA PLAYBOY. The gate is not ideal but, in this line-up, he will be hard to hold out. WOODLANDS WONDER (4) has faced some wide gates at his past 2 starts, the latest when easing to find position and look for the short-cuts in finishing midfield. Closing out in smart order to grab the bronze over the Redcliffe 1780m trip 3 starts back, he can settle handy from this alley to challenge. LANCELOT BROMAC (6) settled in the 1x1 trail here 2 starts back and kept chasing to the line in grabbing the bronze behind MAYWYN TROUBADOR. The gate hurts but he will be working home. GUTS (1) comes up with the right gate to be in the mix here after racing mostly at Redcliffe in recent outings. His lone win here at The Creek was his last race victory back in March and he can chime in. SELECTIONS: COPPICE (10), WOODLANDS WONDER (4), LANCELOT BROMAC (6), GUTS (1) SUGGESTED BET: COPPICE (10) to win
RACE SIX CALL ME KEITH (3) has faced the starter twice since arriving in Qld to join the Ben Battle stable, finishing midfield on both occasions. Asked to do it the tough way, he was far from disgraced after working hard as MANILA PLAYBOY took the prize. A strong first-up showing when 3m from ROCKS OR DIAMONDS, this looks ripe for the picking. MOONAN NINA (1) was resuming from a freshen last start when eased from gate 6 to secure position before closing out in smart order for the bronze behind OUR BOY BOBBY. A winner 3 starts back when finishing over the top of them to break the maiden status, from the gate she gets her chance. ONE LAST ROLL (2) returns from a spell and re-joins the in-form stable of Mark Rees. Not seen since October, his last win was back in July of 2020 but with a smart trial to prepare, he stays under notice. PACIFIC COIN (6) was sent forward from a wide gate last time out at Redcliffe and working hard in the run faded late as VANISH HANOVER arrived. The gate beat him here 2 starts back but, in this line-up,, he has podium claims. SELECTIONS: CALL ME KEITH (3), MOONAN NINA (1), ONE LAST ROLL (2), PACIFIC COIN (6) SUGGESTED BET: CALL ME KEITH (3) to win
RACE SEVEN KING TRITON (9) has caught the eye at each of his 4 starts since arriving in Qld, the latest when tackling a qualifier from gate 11. Wide off the track he continued to give to the wire when only 1m from the winner OUR MEGASTAR. Gate 6 stung him the start prior as TALENT TO SPARE controlled it in front and with the right trip here, he looks hard to hold out. LORD DIGBY (6) started from gate 10 in the 4YO APG feature last start when sent to the pegs to go luck hunting. It was a sound effort to be midfield behind the dictating winner ADAM CROCKER and followed a 3rd to that same winner in a heat. The gate is a dampener, but he is up to this grade. ROCKSLIDE (4) will take benefit from his latest outing when resuming from a spell. Eased from a wide gate over the Redcliffe sprint, he was against the tempo when down the line. The 2138m should suit and he is a podium hope. KOTARE ELITE (1) claimed a mare’s qualifier here 2 starts back when eased early from gate 7 before making a spirited closing charge to arrive. Not having the smoothest passage last start, the gate is a big plus. SELECTIONS: KING TRITON (9), LORD DIGBY (6), ROCKSLIDE (4), KOTARE ELITE (1) SUGGESTED BET: KING TRITON (9) to win
RACE EIGHT IMA SPORTSSTAR (7) looks to slide into this contest under the conditions very nicely and while the gate is no luxury, it could well be a case of class beats the map. Running some great races in strong Saturday night company in recent weeks, he backs up from a 3m 2nd to TACTICAL RESPONSE on Sat night. Beaten a lip behind L L COOL J 5 runs back, he can arrive here. BETTATHANIDEAL (8) started from gate 11 last time out and was angled to the pegs looking for the short-cuts but could get into the contest behind OUR BALOU. Hitting the line wide out when saved for a closing sprint at Redcliffe 3 starts back, he will be waiting for the gap to open. THE GROGFATHER (1) lines up here for trainer John Boserio who arrives to begin the annual winter pilgrimage from Central West NSW. Arriving a last start winner, it was a gritty win over the Bathurst 1730m when working around from the 2nd line to take control. From the gate he is in the mix. EH EF EL (4) settled in the 1x1 trail last start and was making some good ground in the closing stages when within 2m of the winner LETTERKENNY BOY. Back to the mile should suit for this contest. SELECTIONS: IMA SPORTSSTAR (7), BETTATHANIDEAL (8), THE GROGFATHER (1), EH EF EL (4) SUGGESTED BET: IMA SPORTSSTAR (7) to win
RACE NINE
A tricky little midweek FFA to dissect here over the mile that looks set to generate some early heat with the power drawn in tight. SHORTYS MATE (5) retreated from gate 6 last start before attacking the line strongly in the closing stages behind MAYWYNS BEST. A winner the start prior over the 2138m, he might just get the right run to arrive. SPEEDY DOMINIC (4) stepped up to open company on Saturday night in fine style when charging home along the passing lane to score a smart win at the 2138m trip. Only 5m in arrears of MAYWYNS BEST at the mile the start prior from inside the 2nd line, he can make a play again here. LEOS BEST (8) was angled to the pegs from the 2nd line last start and was searching for a passage when 7m from the winner TAROONA BROMAC. Not suited when forced to work 2 runs back, he can be probing for openings here. LILAC FLASH (6) was buried away in the run here on Saturday night before charging home in the latter stages to grab the silver, running some slick closing splits. If they run this hard, he is the swooper to watch. SELECTIONS: SHORTYS MATE (5), SPEEDY DOMINIC (4), LEOS BEST (8), LILAC FLASH (6) SUGGESTED BET: SHORTYS MATE (5) to win
