RACE TWO
Tackling a stronger contest last week than what he meets here, SMOKIN BY (6) was strong to the line in the closing stages when 6m from the winner CARDLESFROMHEAVEN. Powering over the top of them here 2 starts back to claim a stylish win, it had followed a nice 3rd to SCOOB OPERATOR. He will be reliant on tempo but that looks to be generated for him to arrive. KASH US BACK (7) has no favours from outside the front and this same gate cruelled his chances her last week when CRUNCH TIME put the power on. Tackling the Blacks A Fake Consolation the start prior, he worked forward early and then was only 2m from SEND IT. His win here 4 starts back from the 2nd line was big and despite the gate is right in this. MIDNIGHT MAN (3) bounced back to winning form 2 starts back when attacked the line strongly in the closing stages to score a tidy win after a string of unplaced returns. Finding the front early before releasing last start, he has podium claims. CAPTAIN KIRK (1) lands his best gate since resuming and looks set to enjoy the perfect run-in transit. Not suited against the tempo from the 2nd line last start, he was luckless here 2 back. He will be probing. SELECTIONS: SMOKIN BY (6), KASH US BACK (7), MIDNIGHT MAN (3), CAPTAIN KIRK (1) SUGGESTED BET: SMOKIN BY (6) to win
RACE THREE He will need a few factors in his favour from this gate and while his figure form may not correspond, SAM IS PERFECTION (8) is flying at present. From back in the pack last start he was attacking the line with power when only 1m from the winner CARDLESFROMHEAVEN. Not too far from SEND IT the start prior, the return to this grade is a big plus and he is up to the task. AT WEST POINT (3) likes to run them along and while he does not have the zing out of the machine to make a left turn, he can continue forward to press to the front. Trying to fight them off last start when in front, he could not see it out and had to settle for the bronze. He will give them the target. VINNY CHASE (10) chimed in late to grab the silver here last week as SUBTLE DELIGHT swept home to score. Closing out nicely the start prior behind BOMBADIER JUJON, he can be working into the money in this. CASINO TOMMY (4) tackled open company last start and while he may not be up to that level, it was a sound effort from a rearward spot as it turned into a turn and burn. In this grade he can feature. SELECTIONS: SAM IS PERFECTION (8), AT WEST POINT (3), VINNY CHASE (10), CASINO TOMMY (4) SUGGESTED BET: SAM IS PERFECTION (8) to win
RACE FOUR A tricky mares event here where the wide and 2nd line runners look to hold the keys to the contest. Placed at her past 2 starts, VOODOO LOU (6) secured the pocket trail last week and chased bravely for the bronze behind OAXACAN DREAM. Grinding it out when parked the start prior and holding on for the silver, she gets her chance to step forward for the gold. MORESCO (9) is in search of the hat-trick after successive all the way victories at Redcliffe. Taking advantage of gate 1 last start over the 2040m, she was never in danger when claiming a 3m margin. Following through in the early stages from this alley, she can be ready to make a challenge. AJAY BREEZY ROSE (7) settled in the 1x1 trail last week as OAXACAN DREAM carved the mile in front. Making a strong stretch drive challenge, she was able to get within a head of the prize. The step up to the 2138m is a query but her form in Qld is strong enough to feature prominently. FEELS LIKA WINNER (10) was a Redcliffe winner 3 starts back when finishing over the top to claim a tidy win. Midfield in both starts since that victory, she was gunned down in front last start when trying to lead throughout. With a cart into the contest, she can make a play. SELECTIONS: VOODOO LOU (6), MORESCO (9), AJAY BREEZY ROSE (7), FEELS LIKA WINNER (10) SUGGESTED BET: VOODOO LOU (6) to win
RACE FIVE With 3 wins at his past 4 appearances LIFE LAVROS (10) is loving life in the Sunshine State. Starting from gate 9 last start, he was deep back in the file over this trip but had the closing power to arrive for a stylish win. Runner-up to the flying OUR ACTION MAN 2 starts back, he can settle off the speed before arriving over the top. MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (1) was sent forward from gate 5 here 2 starts back over the mile and asked to grind it out when parked was too gritty for his opponents to claim the prize. Holding them out early last start, he was burnt off in the front stretch when MACH DA VINCI was set alight and finished 1.5m in arrears. With the options from the alley, he can challenge. MISTERFREEZE (9) was first up off a freshen last start when he landed in the CRUNCH TIME demolition. His run 2 starts back was a nice closing effort down the stretch and with the right tempo will be finishing hard. THE ANNOUNCER (6) was a winner here 3 runs back over this trip when easing out of the early pace battle that saw a 26.4 opening exchange outlaid. Powering home over the top to claim the prize, he has had no luck in landing a gate. Despite another tough alley, he can chime in. SELECTIONS: LIFE LAVROS (10), MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (1), MISTERFREEZE (9), THE ANNOUNCER (6) SUGGESTED BET: LIFE LAVROS (10) to win
RACE SIX WAHS FIRE BUG (1) settled rearward last start after easing from gate 5 to secure position. Making a strong run in the latter stages, she was best of the chasers behind the subsequent winner LIFE LAVROS. With the option for an easy run in behind the speed, she can be ready to make the closing shot a winning one. FAIRY TINKABELL (10) has hit the board in all 5 appearances here at The Creek, the last 2 when runner-up to TOMMY LINCOLN on each occasion. Settling in the pocket trail 2 starts back, she was taking a serious shot up the passing lane when only a half-neck in arrears. Back to mares only company, she can throw it down. SAUCY DREAMS (5) has held on for the bronze at her past 2 starts, the latest when gunned down by TOMMY LINCOLN after trying to take them all the way. Liking to roll up on the speed, she can fire the early bullets again here. ARMA NAUGHTY (9) eased from gate 6 to secure position last start before trying to launch a closing raid when 4m from the winner. Closing out nicely here 2 starts back, she is in the mix once again. SELECTIONS: WAHS FIRE BUG (1), FAIRY TINKABELL (10), SAUCY DREAMS (5), ARMA NAUGHTY (9) SUGGESTED BET: WAHS FIRE BUG (1) to win
RACE SEVEN With all the advantage from the barrier and with a distinct edge on her opponents, CAT KING COLE (1) heads into this as on of 2 main targets for the season. With the first already secured and banked, she can assume control here and assert her dominance. Never asked for any effort in easily claiming the heat, the race looks to be on for the minors. CLASS TO THE MAX (6) was sent forward from this gate in his heat when obliged to sit parked outside I AM SPARTA. Rolling the sleeves, he was in for the fight and only faded in the latter stages when safely holding the silver. The wide gate is a stinger, but he can look to issue some form of challenge. I AM SPARTA (8) bounced back to winning form last start when pouncing on the poles from gate 4 and taking them all the way in a comfortable 8m victory. He should secure the most economical of trips and be ready to launch a bid in the stretch. MY ULTIMATE LEVI (9) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts, including the heat of this Final when 4m from CAT KING COLE. Best of the chasers behind the smart MY ULTIMATE BAXTER 2 starts back, he has peg options here to find the podium. SELECTIONS: CAT KING COLE (1), CLASS TO THE MAX (6), I AM SPARTA (8), MY ULTIMATE LEVI (9) SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 1 / 6-8-9
RACE EIGHT He led for every stride bar the one that counted here last week but KING TRITON (8) go from the hunted to the hunter this week. Gate 7 was his undoing 2 starts back when snagging back early before attacking the line with power. Sectionally strong at his past 4 starts, he just needs the lane with momentum to take this. OHOKA CHOPPER (2) rolled forward to look for a position last start from gate 4 before easing into the running line. Unable to go on with it in the closing stages of the 2138m trip he should appreciate some extra benefits here. Moving into gate 1, back to the mile looks suitable and he will be gripping on. MISTER DIAMOND (3) has worked his way back into some form, hitting the board at his past 5 on the bounce. Asked to hang tough when parked last start, he held on for 3rd behind STREET APPEAL. He may need to work again here but can feature. WESTAR SAM (9) heads to town for his first look at headquarters off the back of successful Redcliffe victories. Sent around them early last start and proving too strong, the pegs will be a good place to play this. SELECTIONS: KING TRITON (8), OHOKA CHOPPER (2), MISTER DIAMOND (3), WESTAR SAM (9) SUGGESTED BET: KING TRITON (8) to win
RACE NINE
Perhaps the unluckiest horse of the Constellations CAPTAIN CRUSADER (9) had no luck in landing a marble in any of the main features. From gate 12 in the Derby, he was closing out hard to be within 2m of AMERICAN DEALER in grabbing 2nd. A similar margin in arrears in the South East Derby, he should be too classy here. SOHO SINATRA (1) was strong to the line when 1st up in Qld over the mile, making some nice metres from back in the field as the leader and winner ripped home in a sub 27 closing panel. Angled to the pegs and looking for gaps when chasing behind LIFE LAVROS last start, he has the gate to challenge. SIMON (2) settled back in the pack from gate 10 here on Tuesday when saved for one shot. Charging down the stretch he was able to get within a lip of victory. Gunned down the start prior when trying to take them all the way, he can be thereabouts. DOUBLE OR NOTHING (8) is knocking on the door but may need to wait another week until it opens. Snagging back from gate 7 before charging home to be just a head away last start, he will be probing for open road from this alley. SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN CRUSADER (9), SOHO SINATRA (1), SIMON (2), DOUBLE OR NOTHING (8) SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN CRUSADER (9) to win
RACE TEN
Making a complete mess of the start last time out and never featuring at any point, MAJESTIC SIMON (10) can look to frank his title of the State’s best square gaiter now that the Constellations have passed and his main rival Our Overanova has ventured to the green grass of retirement. Game when setting the tempo in the QLD Cup, he can overcome the 40m to take this. NORTHERN MUSCLE (9) progressed to the final of the DJA Series after going into the first round of heats fresh from a spell. Unable to go on with it when making his run in the Final, he struck trouble last start in the Qld Cup. From 20m in this line-up he can bounce back to challenge for the prize. SIR FAHRENHEIT (7) found them out of reach last start in the G1 mobile Qld Cup as TOUGH MONARCH handed out a trotting lesson. Within 4m of the winner in both heat rounds of the DJA, back to his level suits. MORE SHADES OF GOLD (6) worked forward from the 10m impost to find the front last start and gave some cheek on the front end when only 4m from the winner OUR OVERANOVA. A return to the 2138m looks ideal and he is in the mix. SELECTIONS: MAJESTIC SIMON (10), NORTHERN MUSCLE (9), SIR FAHRENHEIT (7), MORE SHADES OF GOLD (6) SUGGESTED BET: MAJESTIC SIMON (10) to win
