RACE TWO
MUSTANG DUDE (1) was a runner-up at Redcliffe 3 starts back when holding the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line and then tried to make a closing rally when 2m from the winner FAMOUS SHOES. Not suited from gate 5 at his next start, he can burrow through from the ace and look to pinch this. A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (7) features in a barn switch to join the Dan Russell team. Buried in the run last start when angled to the pegs, he lands another 2nd line gate after his past 3 have all been from out the back. With the right trail, this is the type of contest he can show some improvement in. DARTESIAN (2) released the speed last start after finding the pegs first over the Redcliffe sprint trip and chased hard when claiming the bronze, 5m from the winner. Needs to limit the early burn. AURORA ROSE (8) is the only runner in the field that can boast a previous win on this surface, and she comes into this after finishing a neck in arrears of the winner last start. She will be chiming in. SELECTIONS: MUSTANG DUDE (1), A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (7), DARTESIAN (2), AURORA ROSE (8) SUGGESTED BET: MUSTANG DUDE (1) to win
RACE THREE DOWNTOWN LUCCA (8) has had 13 attempts at landing a victory here at Marburg but has come up short on each occasion and boasts 3 minors from those. Not much went his way last start from gate 5 when caught wide, while his effort 2 back was a tidy hit out. The gate stings but with the right rub of the green this is a race well within his reach. HURRIKANE SPECIAL (2) started from inside the 2nd line last start and was soon angled into the running line to avoid the pocket. Closing out nicely to grab the bronze, she has a previous win in her 2 attempts at this track. With good speed out of the machine, she can look to fight them off. TICK OF THE CLOCK (1) has placed in 3 of his past 5 starts that includes a 2nd here after working home wide off the track. He may just lack the hustle to hold up and if behind the speed will be probing for gaps. COUNTRY RUN (7) set the tempo last start at the Triangle when third up from a spell and after a steady time of it in front, could not see it out. He can look to work home late here. SELECTIONS: DOWNTOWN LUCCA (8), HURRIKANE SPECIAL (2), TICK OF THE CLOCK (1), COUNTRY RUN (7) SUGGESTED BET: DOWNTOWN LUCCA (8) to win
RACE FOUR REDDY FIRE (1) loves Marburg and more importantly loves to lead in his races at Marburg. A last start winner here when taking them all the way from this gate, he was never troubled in cruising hoe to a 5m victory. He may need to withstand some pepper in the run but dictating from the front is a huge plus. LITTLEDEE (4) has hit some nice areas in recent outings and lines up here with 2 wins from her past 3 starts. Sent forward from outside the front line at The Triangle last start, she sat parked and grafting away was too strong in claiming the prize. A big winner here 3 starts back, she can throw it down again. JOEY LINCOLN (8) made a costly error here last start and after regaining stride was then probing for a clear passage. Luckless 2 starts back when never sighting a gap, he can make a play for the prize. CALCULATED RISK (3) takes her first look at Marburg and can get across early to look for a position. Runner-up at Redcliffe 3 starts back albeit behind a clear out winner, she is a podium hope here. SELECTIONS: REDDY FIRE (1), LITTLEDEE (4), JOEY LINCOLN (8), CALCULATED RISK (3) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-8
RACE FIVE PACIFIC COIN (7) was returning from a spell last start when showing early hustle to find a forward position. Only 6m away, that margin could have been smaller had the gaps opened sooner. The second line is a stinger but with the right trail through in the early stages, he can knock them off. SCHEU CREEK (5) has a smart record here at the Burg but is not aided by the tough gate. Working home soundly to grab the bronze at headquarters three starts back, he was in for the fight when facing the breeze here 2 starts back and grinding out a 3rd. He might need to roll the sleeves again here. MAJOR SLIP UP (8) has 3 wins and 2 minors in his 8 appearances at this track but will need to negotiate the ODM tag from gate 8. Making an early error last start, he struck trouble here 2 back. If he can get around cleanly, he comes into calculations. BETTOR WATCH HIM (6) will be requiring some luck and factors in his favour at some point from this alley, two assets that have deserted him in recent outings. Likely pegged away he will be probing. SELECTIONS: PACIFIC COIN (7), SCHEU CREEK (5), MAJOR SLIP UP (8), BETTOR WATCH HIM (6) SUGGESTED BET: PACIFIC COIN (7) to win
RACE SIX MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (6) will need a rub of the green from this alley, but with the cosy trip will be ready to force his way into open space in the stretch. Grinding out a gritty half-head 2nd last start, it followed a strong finish when working home from back in the pack. Just needs the opening. GANGBUSTER (1) took the trail from gate 1 last time out at Redcliffe and with the cosy trip in behind the speed held on for the bronze. There were some mitigating factors in his effort 2 starts back and although yet to land a win this season, he has the gate and conditions to throw it down here. CIRCLE LINE (2) was beaten by a wide gate last start when retreating to secure position and then facing a task from the rear against the tempo. A nice 2nd here 2 starts back, he will be thereabouts. NIGHT NINJA (5) has a super record on this surface but is not aided by the tough gate here. Sent forward to sit parked here 3 runs back from gate 3, he was too gritty and scored a tough 4m victory. His 2 runs since have had merit and he can feature again here. SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (6), GANGBUSTER (1), CIRCLE LINE (2), NIGHT NINJA (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SEVEN MAFFIOSO GIRL (1) has hit the board in all 4 starts here at Marburg with a pair of wins accompanied by 2 placings. Unable to reel them in from the running line last start, she led them deep into the stretch at Redcliffe 2 runs back when only GET READY TO ROCK was able to get past. From the gate she gets every chance. BONNIES CAM (7) fired off the arm to take control over the 1780m last start and from the front was fighting hard when grabbed in the latter stages to be 4m in arrears of the winner. Snagged back to find position 2 starts back over the AP 2138m, they were a bit sharp but back to this grade, he can challenge. HEADWIN (3) will take some benefit from his latest offering when resuming from a spell. Buried in the run, he never had a good shot at them. Only a neck away at his last start prior to the break, he is a podium hope. GO GO JOLT (4) has placed in 2 of his past 3 starts, the latest when runner-up to BRIAN CHRISTOPHER over the Redcliffe 2040m trip. The gate stings but he can be joining in. SELECTIONS: MAFFIOSO GIRL (1), BONNIES CAM (7), HEADWIN (3), GO GO JOLT (4) SUGGESTED BET: MAFFIOSO GIRL (1) to win
RACE EIGHT PEBBLE SANDS (1) tried to take them all the way from this gate over this trip 2 starts back but was unable to finish it off when grabbed near the wire, beaten a half-neck by MEGA STAR. Asked to graft away in the breeze last start, he fought hard to be a head away and with added fitness gets his chance to take them all the way. MEGA STAR (8) was wide off the track and was able to arrive for the narrow victory here 3 starts back to deny PEBBLE SANDS. Strong to the line behind the smart 3YO LAMANDIER at his next start, he was wide off the track last start but could not eat into the deficit. He will be wide at some stage making his challenge in this. ADRENALINE RUSH (7) is a four-time winner here at Marburg and presents for this with a last start 2nd when closing strongly behind the in-form SIMON. With even luck in transit, she has claims. MY SECRET BEACH (6) is 12 months without a win and while that may not change for this contest, he should secure an easy trip in behind the action. Without spending a penny, he will be probing for the podium. SELECTIONS: PEBBLE SANDS (1), MEGA STAR (8), ADRENALINE RUSH (7), MY SECRET BEACH (6) SUGGESTED BET: PEBBLE SANDS (1) to win
