She'sgottheboom charges towards 2YO QTIS Jewel

Talented filly She’sgottheboom has emerged a serious contender for the $500,000 2YO QTIS Jewel with a dominant victory in the fillies Prelude at Toowoomba on Saturday.

She’sgottheboom maintained her unbeaten record from two starts, leading all the way for a commanding near two-length win over Burnish Gold.

The O’Dea/Hoysted-trained filly showed above average ability winning on debut by more than three lengths, when leading all the way over 1110 metres at Doomben on February 15.

The daughter of Spirit Of Boom again showed brilliant gate to lead and only looked momentarily threatened when local filly Burnish Gold loomed up rounding the home turn.

However, jockey Boris Thornton was never concerned as the filly pulled way to score decisively.

She’sgottheboom’s win was a great relief for the co-trainers, who were concerned about her heavy track prospects had the meeting not been transferred from waterlogged Doomben last Friday.

“She’s a very smart filly but there was some doubt about handling a heavy track had they raced at Doomben,” Hoysted said.

Hoysted believes She’sgottheboom has the ability to measure up to the TAB Queensland Winter Racing Carnival but will wait until after her QTIS Jewel assignment before formulating plans for the winter.

She’sgottheboom started a short-priced favourite at $1.55 and was some compensation for punters who crashed earlier following the defeat of heavily backed Flying Rupert who finished fourth in the male’s Prelude.

Gollan still won the race with Capital Tower, who may have earned a trip to Sydney for the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill.

Meanwhile, trainer Rob Heathcote was relieved after Prince Of Boom made a successful comeback from throat surgery with a dominant win in the 3YO QTIS Jewel Prelude.

Prince Of Boom was never troubled leading all the way to down Rubiquitous by two-and-a-half lengths and now looks a serious threat for the 3YO QTIS Jewel.

“It’s a great relief as you never know how they come back after throat surgery until they’re put under race pressure,” Heathcote said.

Gold Coast trainer John Gilmore showed he was a shrewd judge of horse flesh when Sea Raider claimed the Listed Member’s Cup over 1625 metres.

Ridden by Steph Thornton, Sea Raider proved too strong downing Hail Manhattan by three-quarters of a length with Smart Meteor in third.

Gilmore may not be a household name to many racing folk but the wily Gold Coast trainer has a good eye when it comes to buying horses.

The 74-year-old has only six horses in work and bought Sea Raider for only $10,000 at the Magic Millions sales at the Gold Coast.

Sea Raider’s Toowoomba triumph was his 11th win from 30 starts taking his prize money haul to almost $400,000.

Gilmore has been training for 36 years and has vast experience working and training overseas.
