RACE TWO With solid form leading into last week’s Band 5 event, ROCK BOTTOM (9) was sent straight to the front from gate 4 and franked his lead up form with an all the way victory in a new PB winning rate. He gets back to veterans’ company and despite the tricky gate, can rely on the tempo to arrive. PARAVANI (3) made the most of the ace alley here two starts back in this grade when firing out to take control and from the front was never headed in claiming a 2m victory. Gate 10 was his undoing last start and a return to the front line can see him throw down a challenge. MAYWYNS COURAGE (10) started from inside the second line last start but could not get going from the pocket trail as PARAVANI took them all the way. He can come wider to chime in here. MOHS EM DOWN (2) was looking to take them all the way here last week over the 2138m but had no answer to the passing lane power of IT AIT THE MONEY. He has the gat to feature once again.
SELECTIONS: ROCK BOTTOM (9), PARAVANI (3), MAYWYNS COURAGE (10), MOHS EM DOWN (2) SUGGESTED BET: ROCK BOTTOM (9) to win
RACE THREE After a string of tough gates and still able to produce two wins in his past four, ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1) should relish the opportunity to see the inside of the front line. Strong to the line wide off the track last time from gate 11, he charged hard to score here two back. He has the options to cash in. UNCLE SHANK (7) resumes from a spell after a heading South for a tilt at the Chariots of Fire that was derailed when copping an embargo in the Hondo Grattan Sprint. Tractability issues have caused concern, but at his best his has the speed to make a big play for the prize. AMILLION PROMISES (8) was trying to make a closing raid last start from a second line gate when finishing 4m in arrears of the passing lane winner GLENLEDI BOY. He can be chiming in again here. FALCONS (3) has been catching the eye and was attacking the line last start as the only runner on the night to break 55 for their own individual last 800m split. He can be close enough to feature. SELECTIONS: ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1), UNCLE SHANK (7), AMILLION PROMISES (8), FALCONS (3) SUGGESTED BET: ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1) to win
RACE FOUR JASPER (1) was allowed to get straight to the front here in a mare’s APG heat and from the front controlled the speed and ripped home in 27.1 for an easy win. Runner-up to TALENT TO SPARE the start prior which followed successive wins, she has the gate to dictate. WHICH HUNT (8) was hemmed away three back against the poles last week and was picking up some nice metres in the closing stages behind IM JIMMY JAMES after easing off the fence when the leader capitulated. With the good trip in behind the speed, she can be ready to strike. THE DARLING (9) chalked up another minor last week to maintain a nine-start Qld streak of finishing in the top-three. Grabbed in the closing stages after leading, a return to mares only grade will help. PELOSI (10) has no favours from outside the second line and might be sent on an early move to get around them. Trying to make a closing raid last start when 6m in arrears, she has podium claims. SELECTIONS: JASPER (1), WHICH HUNT (8), THE DARLING (9), PELOSI (10) SUGGESTED BET: JASPER / WHICH HUNT (1/8) quinella
RACE FIVE This Final shapes as a belter where the gate does no favours at all for WATTS UP SUNSHINE (7) who will need to negotiate the outside alley. Sent forward from the second line here on Tuesday and doing enough for a narrow victory, it completed a threepeat of wins. He will need to defeat the map do it the tough way. ADAM CROCKER (1) is the big winner when the marbles rolled out and with his electric early speed will be looking to capitalise. A big heat winner when finding top from gate 6 and keeping them rolling to take a 17m margin, he will be looking to dictate and fight them off. KASHED UP (2) returned from a spell in nice fashion when doing some early work before receiving cover and finishing best of the rest behind ADAM CROCKER. Fitter for the run and close enough to strike, he can feature. LE TISSIER (8) was strong to the line here last week behind APHORISM when 7m away in grabbing the bronze. A handy 2nd in the Redcliffe heat of this series, he will be searching for gaps to offer. SELECTIONS: WATTS UP SUNSHINE (7), ADAM CROCKER (1), KASHED UP (2), LE TISSIER (8) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-7-8
RACE SIX Arriving in Qld for this Series after a Bathurst Tiara campaign, AURORA JOY (4) had their measure in the prelude and should be tightened from that effort. Stepping out for the first time in over three weeks when scoring a smart first over victory, the class edge she possesses looks enough to arrive. MISS FROUFROU (2) has placed in all three career starts to date, all here at The Creek. Setting the peed in the prelude, she was able to back it off in the second stanza but when dialling it up, had no answer for the closing power of AURORA JOY. The gate can see her in front again and gripping on. MULLUM RUBY (3) eased from gate 6 in the prelude when having her second career appearance and was trying hard to make some closing metres. The extra experience will help her place hopes. BLACKJACK BETH (1) will take some experience from her debut effort in the prelude after copping gate 7 and easing into the running line. The gate is a big asset for an improved return. SELECTIONS: AURORA JOY (4), MISS FROUFROU (2), MULLUM RUBY (3), BLACKJACK BETH (1) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SEVEN Resuming from a spell in the prelude of this Series, CAT KING COLE (7) was first up since August when beaten deep into the red in the APG Brisbane sale final. Never looking settled in the score up, she was off-stride and missed the start a long way. Still managing to grab 4th, she only needs to bring manners and be relaxed to bounce back with vengeance. DELIGHTFUL LOU (6) was there to capitalise on the error of CAT KING COLE last week and was put on the front end from gate 6. As soon as she was in control with the main danger out of play, she was never in danger in cruising home to a smart 12m victory. She is up to causing another boilover. BETTYS GOLD CLASS (2) fired the early bullets in the prelude before taking the trail. With the economical trip she was able to hold on for 2nd and a similar early scenario can see her feature. INDY JEWEL (5) was slammed with gate 7 in the prelude where she retreated to the rear and when searching for some luck and the shortcuts. The gate stings but the minor money looks up for grabs. SELECTIONS: CAT KING COLE (7), DELIGHTFUL LOU (6), BETTYS GOLD CLASS (2), INDY JEWEL (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE EIGHT Tackling a small field of mares last start in an APG 4YO event, GIRL FROM OZ (2) sat in the 1x1 trail and held on for the bronze when 7m in arrears of JASPER. That was merely a turn and burn with a 27.1 panel from the front making it nigh impossible for the chasers. Never closer than gate 5 in eight starts here at The Creek, this looks ideal. BETTOR ROMANCE (1) has faced a second line gate at her past two starts, the latest from back in the pack where she was picking up some good ground in the closing stages to be 2m from the winner TORQUE ONETWOTHREE. Placed both starts prior, the improved gate gives her a challenging hope. BLAZE COOPS (8) has been set alight from wide gates at her past two starts in this grade and been left flat over the closing stages. Back to a cosy trip against the poles can see her chime in. SOMEGIRLSOMEWHERE (9) started from inside the second line last time out and never saw the space to make a meaningful play. Runner-up in both starts prior at Redcliffe, she is a place chance. SELECTIONS: GIRL FROM OZ (2), BETTOR ROMANCE (1), BLAZE COOPS (8), SOMEGIRLSOMEWHERE (9) SUGGESTED BET: GIRL FROM OZ (2) to win
RACE NINE Making his Qld debut from gate 7 in the prelude for this Final, MY ULTIMATE JACKO (1) slid across to find the 1x1 trail in transit. Aiming up to take his shot, he was able to keep driving and arrive for a half-head margin. The margin of 18m back to 3rd told the tale and with the big gate improvement, he is all but home. HEZA GALVINATOR (8) showed the early hustle to set the speed in the prelude but tapped out as they swung for home. Only collared in the closing strides when on debut over the Redcliffe 1780m, he steps out at The Triangle on Thursday. With the cosy trip available, he will attempt a challenge. RISE ABOVE ALL (5) grafted out a determined win on debut at Redcliffe where he was able to sit parked and hold on for a narrow margin. Doing all the heavy lifting before being nailed on the wire by MY ULTIMATE JACKO, he is right in the fight. KERBANG (2) was banished to the trials despite his 3rd placing in the prelude after making an error in the run. Earning the return ticket, he can settle close enough to the action to fill the exotics. SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE JACKO (1), HEZA GALVINATOR (8), RISE ABOVE ALL (5), KERBANG (2) SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 1 / 2-5-8
RACE TEN Returning from an NSW Derby campaign TIMS A TROOPER (2) was required to sit parked outside SPEAK THE TRUTH two runs back where he was game in defeat, holding on for the silver. Pressing on to take control in the prelude of this, he was never out of second gear in claiming a 7m victory. He should be too classy. CLASS TO THE MAX (8) has a smart record and last start was runner-up to his highly credentialed stablemate TIMS A TROOPER when 7m in arrears on the line. 3m from the winner over the 2138m two starts back, he can get off the poles early as the only second rower to attempt a challenge. BEACH MAGIC (1) lands an improved alley after facing wide gates in recent outings yet still returning some handy efforts. Eased from gate 6 last start, he will secure the cosy trip and be ready to offer. AMAMI (7) has the extreme gate to contend with after facing the second line at hi past two. Always facing a task in the prelude against the tempo, he can be making closing ground to feature. SELECTIONS: TIMS A TROOPER (2), CLASS TO THE MAX (8), BEACH MAGIC (1), AMAMI (7) SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 2 / 1- 8 / 1-3-7-8
RACE ELEVEN The early map for this race looks a tough read with good speed from all 4 inside gates. HEMSWORTH (4) might be able to just ease out of that early battle to tuck in behind and therefore be close enough to be set alight late. Beaten by gate 6 at Redcliffe last start, he chased home along the poles behind BIG WHEELS the start prior. CANT REFUSE (3) was first up in Qld in the heats for this Series where he was sent to the post as the favourite from gate 3. Pressing on to take control, he was unable to see it out when fading to be 6m from the winner OUR MAJOR DAY. The bigger track should assist, and he can challenge second up. SQUARE DEALER (2) backs up from Wednesday night where he went around in a Final and although at the rear was not far from the winner JUST JOSHIN. Early speed can see him in the firing line. BACKINTOWN (1) will take benefit from his latest start where he was first up for the Turpin stable, eased at the start and chasing in vain behind WATTS UP SUNSHINE. The gate helps his place hopes. SELECTIONS: HEMSWORTH (4), CANT REFUSE (3), SQUARE DEALER (2), BACKINTOWN (1) SUGGESTED BET: HEMSWORTH (4) to win
RACE TWELVE Pressing through the park from a second line gate soon after the start from the mobile, WATTS UP MAJESTIC (5) got it all wrong approaching the 1200m point and his chances expired. A winner at his previous three in succession, including a demolition in the Trotters Marathon the start prior, he can atone. REGAL APPOINTMENT (1) was off the 20m tape last start in midweek company but was never in the mix in finishing his handicap behind the winner. Pressing on to the front in the G3 McNeil Final the start prior over this trip, he was able to grip on for the prize. With the front tape, he looks best of the challengers. MATATOKI (2) will appreciate a return to the front line after facing the 30m tape last start in a mid-week contest. Striking trouble in the marathon two starts back, he is safe off the tapes. MAJESTIC SIMON (11) was fired off the arm last start and worked to the front over the mobile mile. Trying to see it out, it was only VAN SANK with the cosy trip that collared him. The 40m makes it tough. SELECTIONS: WATTS UP MAJESTIC (5), REGAL APPOINTMENT (1), MATATOKI (2), MAJESTIC SIMON (11) SUGGESTED BET: WATTS UP MAJESTIC (5) to win
