Racing Queensland advises that trainers will be compensated for the abandonment of the Ipswich Greyhound Meeting on Tuesday, May 17.
Each trainer will receive compensation of $80, as well as their appearance fee, for each greyhound engaged to race.
The Ipswich Club commenced preparation of the track on Monday, following the annual Ipswich Show, with the expectation that it would be suitable for racing on Tuesday. Throughout Monday and Tuesday morning, track maintenance staff attempted to bring the surface up to racing standard, but the track did not drain as expected following heavy rain in the days prior.
QRIC Stewards inspected the track and deemed it unsuitable for racing. The race meeting was abandoned at 1.17pm.
The track was harrowed on Tuesday afternoon, and there are currently no concerns with the next race meeting proceeding at Ipswich on Friday, May 20.
