The Thangool Race Club TAB meeting today has been abandoned following the running of race one due to the state of the track.
Jockeys that rode in the first race advised QRIC stewards they considered the track surface to be unsafe to continue racing on.
The Thangool racetrack received 12mm of rainfall overnight and there were showers on race day.
This meeting was to feature the Battle of the Bush (BotB) Qualifier Open Hcp 1200m – one of two qualifiers for the Capricornia region.
RQ considered other options to stage the BotB Qualifier, but due to a number of issues, there is now no opportunity to reschedule this qualifier prior to the close of nominations for the BotB Final (11am, Monday, June 13).
As such there will only be the one BotB Qualifier conducted in the Capricornia region.
BotB Final conditions will allow the two highest placegetters from this race to be the Capricornia Qualifiers for the Final (if eligible and nominated).
There are five qualifiers being conducted across Queensland this weekend – Barcaldine, Gayndah, Injune, Toowoomba and Cunnamulla.
Nominations have already closed for the Toowoomba qualifier, with nominations for all other races closing at 11am, Tuesday, June 7.
