RACE ONE Just the field of five 2YO Trotters for this contest, with all searching for their first win. Runner-up twice in three MISS MEMPHIS (3) might have found her chance. Stepping cleanly to lead last start, she was collared in the closing stages. Further experience can see her hold on. NELLIE JOY (5) had placed at her first two career attempts including a head deficit when taking a closing shot but just coming up short. An error ended her chances last start but of her first two starts, this is within reach. HOLD MY HAT DOUG (1) threw it away last start when out in front and jumping off stride. Grabbed in the last stride two starts back, his manners are the big concern.
SELECTIONS: MISS MEMPHIS (3), NELLIE JOY (5), HOLD MY HAT DOUG (1) SUGGESTED BET: MISS MEMPHIS (3) to win
RACE TWO Runner-up at his first Qld appearance here last week off the back of a spell, KING OF THE NORTH (8) should strip fitter from the first up performance. Sent to sit parked from the 20m tape, he was 5m in arrears after being sent out in red figures. He can look to go one better under similar conditions. DOWN UNDER RORS (13) was runner-up from the 40m tape three runs back after finding his way into the running line and finishing hard to be under 2m from the winner. Backing up from Friday night where he grabbed 3rd but was a long way from the winner, this looks more suitable. KAR MANOR (14) gave a big sight from the 30m two runs back in a mid-race move. Making an error when the tapes released on Friday to end his chances early, the back mark and traffic are concerns. JUST CALL ME MOLLY (3) squeezed into the running line last start and was trying to make some closing metres in grabbing 3rd behind PADDY PANTS. A similar trip[ can help here.
SELECTIONS: KING OF THE NORTH (8), DOWN UNDER RORS (13), KAR MANOR (14), JUST CALL ME MOLLY (3) SUGGESTED BET: KING OF THE NORTH (8) to win
RACE THREE Placed in all three career attempts thus far, MIKI MAGIC (2) was due to line up in last week’s abandoned event. Runner-up on debut after finishing just a head from FOR REAL LIFE, she was banished to an ODM status at her next two, where she was still close, with the gate an asset. CRADOCK (8) is another that was set to contest last week’s event that never got going. Sent around the field to sit parked at Redcliffe last start, he was working hard in the run and was just a half-head away. With the second line options, he can be looking to get away from the marker line to challenge. MISTER DOMINGO (6) is moving closer to the maiden breaker after finishing as the runner-up at his past two attempts. Charging out of the pack last start after being hemmed away, he is in the mix. SAN MAREA (5) went off at a long price in the Redcliffe Sales Final last time out and had her chances ended from the pocket trail when the tiring leader carted her out of contention. Place claims appeal. SELECTIONS: MIKI MAGIC (2), CRADOCK (8), MISTER DOMINGO (6), SAN MAREA (5) SUGGESTED BET: MIKI MAGIC (2) to win
RACE FOUR Resuming from a spell to tackle his first 3YO contest of the season, SWEETPASSION (1) is a member of the Matt Craven travelling team and opened the pipes on this deck with a sound hit out. Last seen in the G1 VicBred Final where he was 4th, he lands the gate and opposition to return in style. JUDGE JUJON (9) has returned some handy efforts in his past two outings, the latest when buried away after retreating from gate 5 at Redcliffe. Making some nice closing metres to grab the silver, it followed a midfield return behind GOLDEN SAND who set a sizzling tempo. This is within reach. BORSELLINO (8) was runner-up to TEDDY DISCO three runs back in the heats of the Redcliffe sales series from inside the second line. Wide gates have dented his past two attempts with this looking mores suitable. BETTING ORIGIN (10) was not suited last start from gate 5 when retreating before trying to make closing metres as MI FURIOSO TORO was rolling out in front. With the right trail, he can feature. SELECTIONS: SWEETPASSION (1), JUDGE JUJON (9), BORSELLINO (8), BETTING ORIGIN (10) SUGGESTED BET: SWEETPASSION (1) to win
RACE FIVE REDBANK MOLLY (6) was aiming up for a hat-trick of victories two runs back when landing the inside second line alley and buried out of business. With early hustle last start before releasing CANTFINDABETTORMAN, she can get forward and can handle the trip to cash in. HEZ ON THE BUZZER (10) eased from gate 5 last time out over the mile and with the race controlled in front, was making some nice metres in the closing stages. Hitting the line strongly two runs back, he can be making a closing challenge with the right trail. BETTOR KEEP ROCKING (1) was beaten for early hustle last start at Redcliffe before moving around for the retake, fading to be 7m in arrears. With the right trip on the poles, he can chime in. THE MAHARANI (2) has hit the board in 5 of her past 6 starts, the only miss coming when tackling a mare’s qualifier. Just 4m from the classy winner UPTOWN BEACHGIRL last time, the gate is a big plus. SELECTIONS: REDBANK MOLLY (6), HEZ ON THE BUZZER (10), BETTOR KEEP ROCKING (1), THE MAHARANI (2) SUGGESTED BET: REDBANK MOLLY (6) to win
RACE SIX Placed in her first two Qld appearances where she started deep into the red on each occasion, COME SAY HI (10) was able to gain some redemption last start when leading throughout in sharp time at Redcliffe, the last 800m a slick return. The gate is not ideal, but she can go back-to-back. ITS BACK PAGE NEWS (1) was a tough winner over the Redcliffe sprint trip two starts back when sitting parked and grinding out the victory. Down the line behind the star filly AMORE VITA in the Redcliffe Oaks last time, the improved gate and early hustle give her the challenging chance. TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (6) started from the second line at the 2138m here two runs back and was making a closing rally to get within a head of victory. The gate hurts but he can join in. KORLOFF NOIR (5) made her first appearance since crossing the Tasman when making some closing metres for 3rd here last week. The gate makes it tricky as she chases the maiden breaker. SELECTIONS: COME SAY HI (10), ITS BACK PAGE NEWS (1), TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (6), KORLOFF NOIR (5) SUGGESTED BET: COME SAY HI (10) to win
RACE SEVEN Making the most of his first Qld appearance when taking control over the mile, DON LOU (7) was on the bunny and led throughout for a comfortable victory. 8m from TIMS A TROOPER in the Redcliffe Derby last time out, he has no favours from the outside paint but is up to the task. KOWHAI BLAZE (12) was trying to make a closing raid when first up at Redcliffe but from back in the pack the task was too great with a sharp last 800m controlled from the front by COME SAY HI. Overcoming gate 7 here when second up with a smart win, look for her swooping on them. STRONG RESPONSE (6) snagged back from gate 7 at his last start before finding the line in nice order, running up behind them to finish midfield. The gate has stung him again. SUGAR FOR MY HONEY (1) scored a big win at her first Qld appearance from gate 6 on The Triangle, posting a 17m margin. A tidy effort chasing AMORE VITA in the Oaks, the gate is a big help. SELECTIONS: DON LOU (7), KOWHAI BLAZE (12), STRONG RESPONSE (6), SUGAR FOR MY HONEY (1) SUGGESTED BET: DON LOU (7) to win
RACE EIGHT
At his best when darting along the passing lane, OUR BONDI BEACH (1) lands his favourite pattern here at his 35th appearance at The Creek from gate 1. Locked away three back last time, he made a late play for the bronze and with the trail on the right leader, he can dart up the lane. MOHS EM DOWN (5) was a winner here three starts back, firing off the arm from gate 4 to find the front and take them all the way. Placed in both attempts since that victory in stronger company, a return to veteran’s grade from this gate can see him throw down the challenge. ROCK BOTTOM (8) franked his closing effort behind JILLIBY KUNG FU with a strong win here last week from the second line. In danger of being buried from this alley, he will need some luck. FRANCO HAMPTON (7) rolled forward from gate 5 to sit parked last start and despite the tough trip was able to graft out a gritty victory in sharp time. He has no favours in looking for a repeat. SELECTIONS: OUR BONDI BEACH (1), MOHS EM DOWN (5), ROCK BOTTOM (8), FRANCO HAMPTON (7) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-5-7-8
RACE NINE MISTERY ROAD (3) was sent to the post as the fav last time out at Redcliffe and was caught up in a scrimmage heading into the first turn. That saw him back in the pack before hitting the line strongly for the silver as FIRST STRING claimed the win up the passing lane. He can do the work here. IM JIMMY JAMES (2) did not receive the smoothest passage last time when chasing home at Redcliffe which had followed a midfield return when tackling a qualifier here at the 2138m trip when buried in the run. Settling handy top the action looks favourable here for him to challenge. FLYING ART (8) will be relying on some luck to fall his way from this alley as he looks set to be in the zip fastener. Chasing in vain as PERFECT CUT dictated last start, he will be probing. CHAMONIX (4) has far from inspiring numbers against his name, but he is slowly working back into some form. Hitting the line nicely two back, he was shuffled to three poles last time. He is not far from turning it around. SELECTIONS: MISTERY ROAD (3), IM JIMMY JAMES (2), FLYING ART (8), CHAMONIX (4) SUGGESTED BET: MISTERY ROAD (3) to win
RACE TEN After a tidy first up effort here last week for 3rd, DANCE IN THE SUN (4) should appreciate a return to the front line after facing the inside second line at her return. Searching for the gaps when buried as UPTOWN BEACHGIRL dictated, she has the early speed to find position. AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1) will take further benefit from his latest appearance where he was third up from a spell and sent to sit parked from gate 6 over the mile. Grabbing 3rd when second up at Redcliffe, the improved gate is a big asset to call on here. OUR AUNTY ASH (3) capitalised from the gate at Redcliffe last time out when hustling off the arm to lead and from there was never in danger with a 10m margin. She can be handy enough to feature. ROCKNHOLME (10) snagged back from gate 7 to find the poles last time out and then was rocketing home wide out to be just 5m in arrears of the passing lane winner BONNIES DANCE. He can chime in. SELECTIONS: DANCE IN THE SUN (4), AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1), OUR AUNTY ASH (3), ROCKNHOLME (10) SUGGESTED BET: DANCE IN THE SUN (4) to win
