RACE ONE Resuming earlier in the season with three successive wins, UPTOWN BEACHGIRL (3) was given a let up and returns here off the back of two effortless trials. Setting a new mare’s record for the AP mile at her last start back in March, she can get across and look to return in style. SOEXTRA (11) tackled open company last start where he was tucked away on the poles and got out late for the bronze as BLACKSADANCE stomped it out in front. Beaten by a wide gate the start prior when forced to retreat early, he has no favours from this alley, but tempo will be his friend. SUMOMENTSOMEWHERE (6) will have his first local start since January but comes into this with a last start 4th at Menangle behind SPEAK THE TRUTH. Despite the wide gate, he is in the mix. LYRICAL GENIUS (8) made some late metres last time out from back in the pack to grab the bronze behind LORD ZARIAS. 8m from HOT AND TREACHEROUS two starts back, he will be probing for gaps. SELECTIONS: UPTOWN BEACHGIRL (3), SOEXTRA (11), SUMOMENTSOMEWHERE (6), LYRICAL GENIUS (8) SUGGESTED BET: UPTOWN BEACHGIRL (3) to win
RACE TWO Conditions have not really been to the favour of YEP GOT CHOOKS (2) in recent starts, the latest where he started off the second line when finishing 5m from the winner SPEAK WITH SAM. At his best when up on the engine, he can fire off he arm and keep the beak in front throughout. KARLOO BRADLEY (5) faced gate 7 here last week where he retreated to four poles running position. Eased one wide at the 500, he hit gridlock when hampered by a tiring runner. Finding wider space, he attacked the line smartly to grab 3rd, under 4m from the winner. He can issue a challenge here. LITTLE BOLT (1) was game in victory last start when forced to sit parked for a long way and he was able to grind out a new PB mile in taking the prize. With the economical trip, he can snipe. FEAR CRUISN (8) is one of the multitudes of new horses to join the Dixon stable out of the KerryAnn Morris barn. Winless in four previous AP appearances, he can secure the soft trip here to chime in. SELECTIONS: YEP GOT CHOOKS (2), KARLOO BRADLEY (5), LITTLE BOLT (1), FEAR CRUISN (8) SUGGESTED BET: YEP GOT CHOOKS (2) to win
RACE THREE After a brave effort first up in Qld when doing all the heavy lifting in a slick mile, MY ULTIMATE BYRON (6) started deep into the red here last week. Sent forward from gate 4, he took control through a 27.8 opened and then finished them off with 54.7 last half. He can look for the repeat. ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (4) eased to the poles from the second line last time out and with the softer trip was making late metres to grab the bronze behind MR MCLAREN. Finishing 5th two starts back but under 3m from the winner after trying to see it out in front, he has the arm hustle to challenge. THE HIGH COMMANDER (10) was a sharp winner here three starts back from the second line before striking an issue at his next outing. Bouncing back with a slick close out last start, he can feature. DAZZLE ME (2) was not helped by carrying a flat tyre last start when finishing down the line. Beaten by a wide gate the start prior when snagged to the rear, he can be much closer to chime in here. SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE BYRON (6), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (4), THE HIGH COMMANDER (10), DAZZLE ME (2) SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE BYRON (6) to win
RACE FOUR
Well supported to start as the fav here last week, CAMANCHI WARRIOR (3) was unable to get across from this same gate and had to sit parked thereafter. Finishing 8m astern of the dictating winner OUR ACTION MAN, he can stoke the fires early to look for the premier position. STORMTIDE (1) finished down the line last time when unable to get warm in the closing stages as MR MCLAREN was too slick out in front. A grafting 2nd after sitting parked here two starts back, he can burrow through for a soft trip and search for the gaps to make a closing challenge. LOCHINVAR JAG (4) eased from gate 5 last start and picked off some closing metres against the tempo. Runner-up his previous two in succession when beaten a head in each, he is in the mix. BIDE OUR TIME (8) was having his first Qld appearance last week when tackling the standing start and finishing 4m from the winner L L COOL J. With the soft trip, he will be probing for openings. SELECTIONS: CAMANCHI WARRIOR (3), STORMTIDE (1), LOCHINVAR JAG (4), BIDE OUR TIME (8) SUGGESTED BET: CAMANCHI WARRIOR (3) to win
RACE FIVE A mare’s contest where all the power looks drawn wide and off the second line, so ALWAYSBME (10) will be relying on some early favours before getting into the contest. Fitter following one run back from a spell where she copped gate 7 in a 70Heat, mare’s only grade is a big plus for this. MAGICAL MAYA (9) was second up from a spell last start when working hard to get outside the leader and after the tough trip, only faded the closing stages. Strong to the line when resuming to grab the bronze, with added fitness and return to her own sex, she can throw down a challenge. OUR MODERN MINNIE (6) was shuffled three back from the ace last start and with the fence the place to be, grabbed the bronze behind CAT KING COLE. She can get forward to feature. BLING THE LUCK (5) left the luck at home last week when buried in the run and not having a smooth passage as CAT KING COLE dictated. With the right trip, she can grab a minor. SELECTIONS: ALWAYSBME (10), MAGICAL MAYA (9), OUR MODERN MINNIE (6), BLING THE LUCK (5) SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYSBME (10) to win
RACE SIX Staring down a hat-trick of victories since arriving in Qld, LORD ZARIAS (5) should appreciate the front tape and can look for a safe getaway, like he did under trial conditions on this deck. Closing powerfully to claim a smart victory last time out, the threepeat looks well within reach. WARFARE (8) has been runner-up at his past three in succession, the latest when making a late raid to get within 2m of L L COOL J. Having his chance to run down the leader FEELINGFORARAINBOW two starts back when a neck away, he can get close enough to make a play. ITS MR CLOONEY (1) made a mess of it when the strands released last start and from there he was forced to chase when 8m from L L COOL J. Back to the front tape, a safe start puts him in the mix. BOMBADIER JUJON (3) was having his first look at the tapes here last week and safely away from the 10, had to sit parked. Peaking late, he moves forward to the front and has claims. SELECTIONS: LORD ZARIAS (5), WARFARE (8), ITS MR CLOONEY (1), BOMBADIER JUJON (3) SUGGESTED BET: LORD ZARIAS (5) to win
RACE SEVEN With this race scheduled to start at 8.18, by 8.21’sh we should have LEAP TO FAME (5) take his record to 18 wins from 24 starts overall and 12 from 16 here at Queensland harness HQ. The Australian 3YO of the year last season takes his first step of his 4YO term, and in a much-anticipated return, can start on the right note. DANGERZONE (9) resumed from a spell last week when slammed with the outside front line gate. Snagged off the arm early, he was against the tempo as MY ULTIMATE BYRON put it out of reach for the chasers with a 54.7 closing half in front. With the early trail through, he can grab the silver. RED RIGHT HAND (1) has grabbed the silver in both his Qld appearances to date, beaten the same margin in a 70Heat and then in the Final behind MR MCLAREN. The fence gate is a huge help. TIMS A TROOPER (11) is given no favours from the gate again following his gate 6 horror last week where he was game in defeat. Chasing SPEAK THE TRUTH two starts back, he can grab a minor. SELECTIONS: LEAP TO FAME (5), DANGERZONE (9), RED RIGHT HAND (1), TIMS A TROOPER (11) SUGGESTED BET: LEAP TO FAME (5) to win
RACE EIGHT GOLDIES A DELIGHT (3) tackled a strong 50-60 event here last week and from gate 1 was trying to force the issue to remain behind the leader. Eventually shuffled to three back with 800 to travel, she lost all the momentum before getting to the home stretch. Back to mares only can see her capitalise. ELOUISA DALE (4) was beaten by a wide gate last start in a midweek contest and forced to retreat and from the back then never got warm in the closing stages. Making a late raid over the 2138 the start prior to grab the silver behind STRONG RESPONSE, she can look to issue a challenge in this. DANCE WITH SOMEBODY (8) is a newcomer to Qld, arriving with Donny Smith after a last start Menangle 3rd behind the classy mare MADRID. Needing a slice of luck to find open track, she stays under notice. KEAYANG TARA (1) added another placing to her tally last start when taking the trail from this same gate at Redcliffe and finishing a head short of victory. In the money at her past six, she can chime in again. SELECTIONS: GOLDIES A DELIGHT (3), ELOUISA DALE (4), DANCE WITH SOMEBODY (8), KEAYANG TARA (1) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE Returning for his first run back from a spell here last week, BLACKSADANCE (5) bullied his way to the front over this same trip from gate 7 and put it out of reach for the chasing pack when bringing them home in 54 flat. He might get asked some questions to find position, but with the added fitness, he should have the answers. PETES SAID SO (2) can flex some muscle off the arm here and if taking control early, will then be present with the option of trying to see it out or taking cover. 8m from MACH SHARD last start over the Menangle 2300 after setting the tempo, he is the big query. GOVERNOR JUJON (1) faced the inside second line last start and was buried in the run before making some late metres once the gap opened to get clear. He will need to hustle through to avoid being shuffled back and if able to hold the pocket trail in transit, can loom as a threat. MACH DA VINCI (3) pressed the issue early from gate 5 last week, found the front and then released to BLACKSADANCE and chased him home the remainder. Mapping looks his big concern. SELECTIONS: BLACKSADANCE (5), PETES SAID SO (2), GOVERNOR JUJON (1), MACH DA VINCI (3) SUGGESTED BET: BLACKSADANCE (5) to win
RACE TEN
Completing a hat-trick of victories last week, RED TRIX (4) was running it hard in front through the first 1200m, with a 55.9 first 800 and 56.1 from the 1200 through to the 400. On tired legs swinging for home, she was able to see it out…..just and can look to make it a fourth in succession here. DELTA THREE (1) sat in the wake of RED TRIX here last week and kept grafting it out to the line when 5m away and finishing just out of the money. With the soft trip available again from this same gate, she will be following through and trying to hold onto some more significant money. JASPER (3) secures an improved alley which might just enough of a catalyst for her to show some improved form. Stuck behind runners here last week, she can look to make more of her own luck. MISS MUCHO (7) was taken back from gate 5 last week and settled at the rear, made a sustained run from the 500 and with another 5m probably gets over the top of RED TRIX. The gate is a stinger once again. SELECTIONS: RED TRIX (4), DELTA THREE (1), JASPER (3), MISS MUCHO (7) SUGGESTED BET: RED TRIX (4) to win
RACE ELEVEN
Making a costly error when moving up behind the start car last time out, ADELLE (7) was trailed off and out of play. In a mammoth performance thereafter, she was able to trot her last mile in sub 1.54 and still managed to beat a couple of home. If she gets it right early, she looks hard to stop. VAN SANK (4) was first up off a freshen last start when taken down the Pacific Motorway to Menangle. With the arm hustle from gate 6 to get across and then take the trail, he had the closing speed to claim a 3m win in a PB for the mile. With a great record from the mobile, he can challenge. SUGARINSPICE (3) has slick moves off the arm and from this gate can be expected to find the pegs first and from the front then has options. Only collared late last start, she won both her previous mobile starts from the front and has the gate to feature. CALL ME TROUBLE (6) faced a 40m impost at Redcliffe earlier in the week and was making good metres to grab the silver. Just 4m away here last start after a tough performance, he is in the mix. SELECTIONS: ADELLE (7), VAN SANK (4), SUGARINSPICE (3), CALL ME TROUBLE (6) SUGGESTED BET: ADELLE (7) to win
