“I’ve always liked this horse and I was confident he would win from the time I loaded him on a float to Townsville.
“He’s only had four starts for three wins and he hasn’t put a foot wrong.”
Taylor believes Bold Comic could stretch out in distance to 1600 metres and is a future Saturday city winner.
“He’s a really nice horse and is definitely a Saturday horse in town once he matures," he said.
“I’m not sure if he’d measure up to the bigger races during the winter carnival in Brisbane next year but in the back of my mind, I’d like to aim him for the Sunshine Coast Guineas.”
Taylor just failed to win the Sunshine Coast Guineas in 2018 with Bold Assassin, who finished second to Kiwi sprinter The Bostonian.
Taylor rated Bold Assassin as one of the best sprinter’s he’s trained during his long career.
Bold Assassin was raced by breeder Graham Cleary who also bred and races Bold Comic.
“Graham races all the horses he breeds and raced Bold Comic’s mother Showellen, who I trained for a short while,” Taylor said.
