The annual Talwood RC non-Tab race meeting scheduled for Saturday, August 12 has been abandoned due to the state of the track.
A race morning QRIC track inspection found cracks across the racing surface in a number of sections of the track. Despite extensive remedial works by the club, the track remained unsuitable for racing.
Racing Queensland will process payments for stakeholders under the RQ abandoned race meeting compensation protocol.
The Talwood RC will still however conduct a “phantom” betting meeting with all facilities available.
Due to the abandonment, an additional race – Open Hcp 1640m of $12,000 – has been added to the Roma TC non-Tab meeting on Saturday, August 19.
In the coming weeks in the Eastern Downs and Downs regions, races will be divided if numbers warrant such.
