RACE ONE
HES SWEET (3) was a winner at this gate and trip three starts back when content to sit parked and grind out the win. Best of the rest behind the in-form GOLDIES A DELIGHT from the second line at his next start, he was again too strong last time. From this gate he looks the one they must get. TAYLORS FOUR (7) was runner-up in her first Qld appearance when using the passing lane to get within a neck of the winner. Holding the front from last start and seeing it out, she will be relying on an element of luck here to find the gap, but if it arrives with momentum, she can challenge. MERGE RIGHT (2) was repelled last start when trying to get across from gate 4 and after the tough trip was still giving to finish 3m astern of the winner. She can take a good look again to feature. LORD OF MISRULE (8) was chasing a hat-trick last start when finishing 7m from LUXURY LAD in slick time over this trip. Trailing through to a position, he has podium claims. SELECTIONS: HES SWEET (3), TAYLORS FOUR (7), MERGE RIGHT (2), LORD OF MISRULE (8) SUGGESTED BET: HES SWEET (3) to win
RACE TWO
A 1207m race here where the start point will be the same as the 2040 which makes it tough for any horse drawn wide. WESTERN SHOWGIRL (2) has a win at the Trot Rods 947 distance and drawn tight should settle handy enough to provide the options and chase victory. BELLA BRONSKI (3) resumed from a spell here on Sunday off the back of a smart trial and carried that through to the race. Firing out to take control, she was able to claim a 2m margin in good time. With good arm hustle, she will be firing early bullets to issue the challenge. SUNRISE RUBY (8) can follow through early and watch the early pace battle, hoping they go hard to give her the swoopers chance. Descending on them two starts back to score, she is in the mix. HIGHLY RESPECTED (1) eased from gate 6 before closing out smartly in a Cup Day heat two starts back before a tough trip when parked in the final. The gate provides options here. SELECTIONS: WESTERN SHOWGIRL (2), BELLA BRONSKI (3), SUNRISE RUBY (8), HIGHLY RESPECTED (1) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE THREE
RIVERINA FLASH (1) faced a second line gate over this trip last week and settled in the running line, when set free to make his run, had the closing speed to arrive for the prize. A winner four runs back under similar circumstances, he can be tucked away here ready to strike. HEY MISTER TAYLOR (2) has placed in over 50% of his 36 appearances in 2023 but has been unable to snare a victory. Game in defeat last start when parked and holding 2nd behind SHADYS CULLECT, he has led once in Qld and that was a win over this trip. It could be time to make it twice. DONNY JONES (5) has worked his way back into good areas and will line up here chasing the hat-trick. Rattling late last start when buried inside the second line, he can be thereabouts once again.
MONTEREY JACK (3) has been runner-up at his past two starts, the latest when strong to the line from a second line gate behind RIVERINA FLASH. He can be close enough to feature here. SELECTIONS: RIVERINA FLASH (1), HEY MISTER TAYLOR (2), DONNY JONES (5), MONTEREY JACK (3) SUGGESTED BET: RIVERINA FLASH (1) to win
RACE FOUR
MONGOLIAN CONQUEROR (1) is at his best when able to roll along form the front and used that pattern to take them all the way at Marburg five runs back and pull away to a big win in slick time. Drawn wide off the arm in all four subsequent appearances, conditions are back in his favour. FEELIN FLIRTY (8) started form this same gate last time out and was attacking the line in the closing stages, looming up to run the winner to a head margin. Buried away two starts back, he found the front and dictated three runs back to see it out. He can make a closing challenge. GRIGORA (2) has bene hitting some good areas and was making a closing raid last start when runner-up to HES SWEET. Grinding out a tough win when parked two starts back, he has claims. MISS MIA (4) has placed at her past two starts, the latest when making some late metres to grab the bronze behind FRAYA. Pressing forward to find position can see her chime in. SELECTIONS: MONGOLIAN CONQUEROR (1), FEELIN FLIRTY (8), GRIGORA (2), MISS MIA (4) SUGGESTED BET: MONGOLIAN CONQUEROR (1) to win
RACE FIVE
TORQUE WRITER (8) eased from gate 6 last start to settle back in the pack before trying to make a closing raid, finishing 7m from the winner FIVE STAR GEM. Deep field after retreating from gate 6 the start prior, the ODM embargo is off, and she can be close in transit which is a huge plus. HIGHVIEW SADLER (3) has had two runs back from a spell for the new stable and placed on this track at this trip in both. Taken back from gate 4 last start, he attacked the line in smart order over the closing stages. Collared in front when resuming, he can be handy enough to issue the challenge. LARA BAY (1) made the most of this gate two starts back when burrowing through to lead and take them all the way. Not suited when parked last start, the inside gate aids her claims. DOLLARBILL (5) was angled away from inside the second line last start and working forward to sit parked was able to tough it out to score. Not too far from them last start, he is in the mix. SELECTIONS: TORQUE WRITER (8), HIGHVIEW SADLER (3), LARA BAY (1), DOLLARBILL (5) SUGGESTED BET: TORQUE WRITER (8) to win
RACE SIX
DIPPED IN SILVER (1) eased from gate 5 last start and from back in the pack had the closing power to descend on them and claim a 2m margin. Not suited the start prior when asked to sit parked, he snares all the options from this alley to capitalise. GHOST TRAIN (8) sat in the running line from outside the second line here last week until angled wider to make one run at them. Hitting the line strongly, he was able to arrive for a 2m margin. A similar trip looks to unveil here, and the opposition looks no harder. BATED BREATH (4) was a starchy winner here two starts back when sitting parked and claiming a 5m margin. Trying to set the tempo and see it out last start when fading, she has podium claims here. PURPLE SHADES (7) was a winner here two starts back when finishing best to claim a narrow victory. Midfield last start as MAN OF ACTION led throughout, he will be probing for the openings. SELECTIONS: DIPPED IN SILVER (1), GHOST TRAIN (8), BATED BREATH (4), PURPLE SHADES (7) SUGGESTED BET: DIPPED IN SILVER (1) to win
RACE SEVEN
TORQUE IN CONTROL (3) held on for the silver when 4m from DONNY JONES in the Cup Day heat and then the run had merit after facing the outside second line in the Final. Buried away here three back, she secures the right alley to chase her ninth victory in a race where the 2040 will ask questions of many. DOOLITTLE DOOZZIE (8) has been runner-up at her past four in succession, the latest when 3m from the winner DONNY JONES in the Cup Day at The Bay Final. A tough 2nd in her heat when sitting parked, she can follow through to secure position and be ready to challenge once again. CHASIN DREAMZ (5) eased from this gate last time out before making a closing raid to grab the bronze when 5m from the winner. Finding the front and seeing it out three back, she has claims. FEELING THE POWER (9) fired off the arm last start from gate 2 to set the speed and from the front was able to see it out. Placed in both prior runs, he can fill a minor from the tough gate. SELECTIONS: TORQUE IN CONTROL (3), DOOLITTLE DOOZZIE (8), CHASIN DREAMZ (5), FEELING THE POWER (9) SUGGESTED BET: TORQUE IN CONTROL (3) to win
RACE EIGHT
AWAYOVERNIGHT (2) resumes from a spell after he started to taper last campaign. Midfield from the pocket trail last start before being shut down, he can look to get forward off this gate and if forward enough, finds the right race fresh up. LETS SAVE THE DAY (1) ticked over two years since his last win and last start was exposed early before finding cover. Unable to finish it off, he faced a string of second line gates prior and with the chance to tuck in behind the speed from this gate can look to issue a closing challenge. CRIME BOSS (9) was asked to sit parked last start and despite the tough trip was in for the fight when holding on for 2nd, finishing 2m from the swooping DIPPED IN SILVER. He can chime in. DOOLITTLE DEXTER (4) was a winner here five runs back when retreating early from the wide gate before attacking the line strongly over the latter stages. Not much has been in his favour since. SELECTIONS: AWAYOVERNIGHT (2), LETS SAVE THE DAY (1), CRIME BOSS (9), DOOLITTLE DEXTER (4) SUGGESTED BET: AWAYOVERNIGHT (2) to win
RACE NINE
TOBEFAIRTOYOU (5) found the ideal conditions last start to break maiden ranks, firing off the arm from gate 2, taking control and pulling away to a big margin. Tackling the Triad Final two starts back, she comes up with the wide gate but does draw inside what looks the main danger. GEM PUNTER PETE (6) has placed in his only appearance on this deck when finishing as the runner-up. Building a tidy record in his first season, he attacked the line smartly in a strong Saturday contest last start when grabbing the silver behind CALL TO ORDER. Despite the gate, he can throw it down. FINANCIAL BURDEN (7) was making his first appearance in Qld for the new stable last start when making some good metres in the latter stages for 3rd behind SAMANTHA CEE. Second line options help. ELUSIVE VEE (1) is a Mr Feelgood filly on debut for John McMullen that ranks as a half-brother to GOTTA GO MILKING. Down the line in a qualifying trial, she has the gate to chime in first up. SELECTIONS: TOBEFAIRTOYOU (5), GEM PUNTER PETE (6), FINANCIAL BURDEN (7), ELUSIVE VEE (1) SUGGESTED BET:
